Who do you have on your "Boycotted Businesses" list?

I was wondering why this thread was locked...

Did I mention that I hate NIKE? Carmello's People of Utah? Go **** yourselves, *** holes.

This plus Wells Fargo. I have a Chase acct. because the initial reward was earned at 3-4x my hourly rate, but they'll lose money on me. That, and every time I use the drive through I chuck the vacuum tube out the window when I'm finished. Sorry if you've been behind me.

Idiot. Always allow a 24-hour "cooling off" period after Betos. Don't travel anywhere, don't plan to go to any events, don't sit down, and try to avoid people if at all possible.

This. It is a 48-hour cycle. Betos - 24 hour cooling-down - 24 hour cleansing - Betos - rinse/repeat.

You are really over thinking this. :)

That would imply thinking beyond a normal level, which is hard to substantiate. Even for some people thinking in and of itself is a difficult task, so compare them to others who think "normally" and you could say they are over thinking simply to put a thought together. Other high-level thinkers would be hard pressed to "over think" anything since they are at a level already that "normal" thinkers could not even over think to arrive at.

Oh you meant over thinking the whole boycott topic thing.

Am not.

:P

I think this would be more interesting if there were more explanations of said boycotts.

Dude I tried that and got called out for over-thinking. I think you should give it a try but realize you are on shaky ground.

See, that's why the people that are saying boycotting over one experience is irrational are wrong. The Betos experience happens every time, it's just a matter of how many people you get to share it with.

if I have a bad experience with a place, I will yelp about it and then give them a second chance...if they fail, then **** them. As consumers, this is one of the last true choices we have in society...and I for one take it with responsibility.

This. Though I do more than yelp. We had horrible experiences with Comcast's customer service for years. I finally email bombed every executive in the company one midnight and got a phone call just hours later on Xmas Eve morning. The problem was fixed instantaneously, money was credited to our account and I've negotiated like a mastermind ever since. Similarly, when my Capital One card with about $4,000 on it was hit with some bs charge (either an annual charge or ridiculous late fee) that I was told would not be taken off my statement, I sent a long email essentially saying they are to cancel my card upon a $0 balance immediately and that their short-sighted approach in not offering me a reprieve was absolutely moronic considering the interest they've made off of me over the years and that I looked forward to taking my business elsewhere. Within 24 hours, I got a polite phone call telling me they took the charge off. Some fights just can't be won. But most of the time, people, that is the consumers, don't fight hard enough or wisely enough.

Nicely done. If you care and make an effort, you can definitely change things for the better...

Ah, I might be trying this - I've had a late charge come on and off and then back on my Comcast bill for about a year now. The frustrating thing is I don't even pay my Comcast bill (my employer does) so I have to get all the check copies from my payroll department. And if I speak to one more guy from India named Chip, I might just lose my ****.

Dish Network. Everything they told me was a lie. I will stop watching TV before ever using their service again. I paid their stupid contract fee just to never have to deal with them again.

You're not the only one. I was about to sign up but decided to ask my wife first. She dissed the idea with a claim that everyone says they stink.

My list is based on ownership. If I can trace the ownership to anyone with a lot of money. . . . . well, they just have to beat the competition on price enough to make it worth my trouble to hold my nose and go in there. . . .

trouble is, it's getting harder and harder to find "little guys" in any business.
