Who do you side with?

I'm curious, how would a huge tax on capital gains hurt the middle class? They don't have money invested in the stock market. Right now, they pay 20-30% of their income in taxes. That wouldn't go up.

All I have to go back to is my experiences and my reality. I'm very interested in others thoughts. The more perspectives I can have in life, the more complete picture I can make for myself and my decisions.

The tax on capital gains is plain unethical. Especially if we're talking about when you sell property.

At least you're a proud socialist seems like. The most dangerous are the closet socialists, which are all over the political spectrum.

lol. We are all socialists to varying extents u moran. Just like we are all capitalists to varying extents.

Explain please.

I think I've gone through this one before. Please tell me how the government has helped for instance a home owner make improvements in his own property to increase it's value, so that they can just turn around and take part of the capital you've gained when selling it. Give me a good reason for this to be justified. It's a blatant case of thievery that they legally get away with year after year.

Then they turn around and spend this tax money in stupid foreign interventions that haven't been approved in Congress and ****. Criminal activity in my book.

I think there is a HUGE difference between gains on a homeowner's home and gains on a Walmart or a stock.

That being said, that home does sit on a road paid for by tax dollars. That home uses garbage, water, electricity, all subsidized by the government.

To call it unethical, I think that is a little far fetched.

I'd love to see the actual numbers of cost, what is paid in your monthly bill, if that turns a profit for the government or not and how taxes on the sale of a home factors into that.

Also, if you sell your home and reinvest that within two years, you don't pay any taxes, correct?

One of the few areas that I do agree with Bernie is when it comes to foreign policy. Let's take care of the home front first, shall we? GTFO of the middle east.

A million times this.

Here is my crazy idea:

Bring everyone home. Cut the defense budget by 70%. Take 10% and send it Canada for being our buffer to the North. Send 10% to Mexico for being our buffer to the south. Take 10% and create a military that WE need...not the military the rest of the world needs.

Take that 70% and invest it in America. Raise taxes on those making over $400,000 (the 1%) and escalate back to where it was pre-Reagan.

Let's get people educated in a way that they can actually succeed after. Yeah, we may lose a few Walmarts. Bring back small business. Bring back competition. Get rid of this crony capitalism and allow people to compete.

To much of a cut IMO. I say withdraw to our formally allied nations. NATO, Japan, S. Korea, Israel, Australia, Philippines...
