What's new

Who is Ettore Messina?

That's not what you said, though, but whatever. "Anyone still coaching is not scratched off the list" must equate to "lend credence to the Messina rumors." Considering there will be LOTS of coaches coaching into June, which still means nothing because Lindsay could take his time and hire someone in May makes it quite the stretch to imply that he's the top choice or quite the obvious, useless statement to say that he's a choice.

This.

Not sure what happened to the old "Spazz", seems like this version lost 100 IQ's along the way and still has hundreds more than me.

Hey, if you guys take what I said at step 2 to mean step 10 I can't stop you. You are the ones reading into it.

To lend credence to it basically means what DL said makes the Messina rumor believable. Not that it's fact, or the only option.

Sorry you took it a different way.

I'll reword it for you.

What DL said lends "flawed or wrong" to the Messina rumor.

There, happy.

Can we move on to the point?

I think the biggest concern the NBA community had with Messina when he was brought up a few years ago was whether he could relate to NBA players who grew up in inner city neighborhoods. The "culture" of the NBA and how Messina could deal with that and getting the most out of his players while avoiding confrontations based on misunderstandings.

I would think one team where those concerns would be mitigated would be the Jazz.

Idk, all the interviews I've read make it seem like he'd be great for team and player psychology.

Posted this in the other thread:

Well we have some foreign guys which he would be perfect with...

Kanter
Gobert
Neto

Then you have Hayward and Burke who by all accounts seems to be "students of the game" so I'm sure they'll get a whole lot from Messina.

Then you're left with Favors and Burks who to me are pretty down to earth anyway plus Malone is already mentoring Favors and you get Bryant to buddy up with Burks and problem solved.

I think overall he shouldn't have too many issues with this group of guys.
