I fundamentally disagree with Biden in his interview the other night. Him knowing that he gave his “campaign everything” is not good enough. If democracy is on the line then there’s no room for moral wins here. We either win and keep our democracy or lose our democracy to authoritarianism. We need a candidate that can prosecute their case against Trump. Calling him an alley cat or whatever is ineffective.

Time for someone else. If that’s Harris? Fine. If not, I hope both step down, we start with a clean slate. Personally, I’d like to see a Whitmer/Shapiro ticket. Locking up 2/3 of the blue wall states (Whitmer is MI’s gov and Shapiro is PA’s gov) would make it super easy to win the EC. Just win Wisconsin and this election is over.

Too soon for polls. Things HAVE changed.
This seems to be most correct and I owe you an apology.

I am unsure if Harris is the correct candidate. But I don’t think we can continue with the status quo. The USS Biden has taken on too much water, isn’t hitting Trump, and we are powering full speed to authoritarianism.

This is some scary ****. The fact these guys have become so emboldened, just shows how dire the situation is becoming. There are no guardrails anymore on the right. They’re opening talking about revolution, authoritarianism, and executing political opponents.

...and at that point Trump wins.

Two of the swing states Trump will need to win are Wisconsin and Michigan. He won them both in 2016. In the most recent polling, Trump is up by 6% in Wisconsin. Trump has had the polling lead in Wisconsin since January. The latest polling in Michigan has Trump up 3% and he’s led the polling in Michigan going all the way back to last October. The numbers say Trump should win both Wisconsin and Michigan easily.

The problem is that Wisconsin and Michigan are both among the states who changed their rules to more closely match what California rolled out in 2016. Here are the real-time vote counts in Wisconsin and Michigan from 2020:

Do you see that vertical spike late in the night where Biden appears to go straight up? That is the ground game votes facilitated by the new rules being counted. Many at the time claimed it was evidence of fraud. It isn’t fraud. Every one of those votes is real, cast by a real person, for Biden. They are all for Biden because they were collected by people who had been given lists of names and addresses of voters who would vote for Biden. They went house to house all day long until at the end they drove everything to the counting center to turn it all in, and that looks like a vertical spike for the DNC candidate.

Biden outperformed Obama in Black communities, and Trump claimed that was evidence of the election being rigged. Trump was wrong. Trump didn’t understand what he was looking at. Obama’s totals were organic while Biden’s were a product of the ground game under the new rules.

When California rolled this system out before the 2018 election, the voting looked exactly like this in Orange County. The GOP candidates were polling ahead, they were winning as the vote counts came in, late in the evening the harvesters dropped off their day’s work causing a spike in the DNC numbers, and the GOP was wiped off the board. House Speaker Paul Ryan was quoted as saying “We were only down 26 seats the night of the election and three weeks later, we lost basically every California race. This election system they have — I can’t begin to understand what ‘ballot harvesting’ is.”

It doesn't matter what Biden does, if he's replaced, or who replaces him. The system that has been installed legally will not allow a GOP candidate to win a national election.

To be clear, I wouldn’t want to see the great society and new deal programs shattered. But in a twisted way, it would be pretty funny to see all of the “forgotten men” of Trump’s coalition who hate Obamacare but love the ACA suddenly realize that the very fine people they put into office just gave away their social security and Medicare as tax breaks to already rich billionaires. Then again, trumpers are so stupid and drowning in propaganda, they probably would never learn who actually destroyed their entitlement programs. Or at the very least, they’ll convince themselves that they actually won, because as long as black people are kept from entitlements, they win.

I was pretty happy and proud to see all these "lefties" on the jazzfanz general discussion board go off on Biden after his horrible debate. I would have loved to have seen any, even 1, trump supporters on jazzfanz have some posts blasting trump after any of his many scandals and even after he was convicted by a jury of 34 felony counts and call for him to step down. I have been pretty disappointed, but not really suprised, to see zero calls for him to be replaced from his supporters. This again points to trumps famous statement of not losing any supporters if he committed murder.

One of America’s political parties has a presidential candidate who is really old and showing it. The other has a presidential candidate who is a convicted felon, adjudicated sexual abuser, business fraudster and self-described aspiring dictator for a day. And also really old.

One of the parties is up in arms about its nominee and trying to figure out how to replace him at the last minute. The other is not.

The spectacle of the week since the nationally televised debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump has thrown into sharp relief two political parties that agreed to be led by flawed putative nominees whose vulnerabilities have become even more painfully apparent just months before the election.

But the distinction of recent weeks has been striking. After Trump was found guilty of 34 felonies by a Manhattan jury in May — a verdict that came after civil judgments against him for personal and professional misdeeds — there was no significant groundswell within the Republican Party to force him out of the race in favor of a less-tainted candidate. Even though many Republican officeholders and strategists privately loathe him, they fell in line and made clear they would stick with him no matter how many scandals piled up. (Again, "I could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose any supporters" rings true)

“While Biden had the worst debate performance in all of presidential history, Trump’s was likely the second-worst,” said Jeffrey A. Engel, director of the Center for Presidential History at Southern Methodist University. “Yet we hear crickets from Republicans after their presumptive nominee was incoherent, rambling and utterly divorced from the truth. Oh, and also a convicted felon.”

Trump has come to thoroughly dominate his party in a way that no president has done in modern times, crushing internal opposition, punishing dissenters and enforcing loyalty even among those who have publicly declared him to be a danger.

Rather than be defensive over his many political liabilities, Trump has gone on offense, forcing his fellow Republicans to go along with his version of reality in which every accusation against him, even those proven in court, are all part of a wide-ranging conspiracy of persecution.

“Republicans don’t see Trump’s convictions, his rhetoric nor his threats of retribution as moral or political infirmities,” said David Jolly, a former Republican congress member from Florida

Trump has imposed his will on his party to the point that even rival candidates in the primaries did not criticize him for his alleged crimes or for trying to overturn an election.

The other problem is that polls aren't always accurate. Just ask hilary clinton.

I was never warm to her either. It’s the time constraints that make it difficult to not have her as the front runner. If she’s not interested, that’s something else, but I can’t imagine she’d pass. I guess you could have a wide open convention. I vaguely remember some from my youth. Must see TV, a wide open convention, lol. Again, seeing a Biden ticket collapsing in front of our eyes is bad enough. Democrats need to tamp down impression that they are in a chaotic free fall. I understand the concern with Harris as the candidate, but I do at least want to believe, despite her unpopularity among many, that the appearance of a much younger candidate, with a pulse, and good impression campaigning, can still do it.

Of course, Harris or another good candidate may fail miserably. I just like the idea, with a few years already of dreading another Trump vs. Biden, of the sudden relief and opportunity that a better ticket would present. Whichever party nominates someone different, wins the election. Could be off with that idea, but I think it has merit. Since none of the potential candidates in the poll I posted are campaigning, their closeness to Trump already, should be seen as their floor, not their ceiling. But, I understand Harris might be the last person imaginable to pull it off. We’re just not going to move fwd without Biden, at all, without accommodating Harris.

And after his ABC interview last night, Biden is delusional and in denial. He’ll bring the whole party down. All along, he claims he’s running to prevent Trump harming America, destroying democracy. Last night he said, if he lost, well, “I gave it my best shot”. Say what?? He’s got to go.
They need to make a ****ing decision and get this thing out of the news cycle, one way or the other. They have to engage in a media barrage/blitz to either affirm Biden as the candidate with full support of the Dems or replace his *** right ****ing now. But the longer they drag this out the better it is for the Republicans and the worse, ultimately, for the country.

This.

It’s ironic that Trump is skating to victory right now despite all of the baggage he has. Much more baggage than in 2016 and 2020. Yet thus far he’s had the easiest time campaigning due to Biden’s campaign blowing up on the platform and the Supreme Court shielding Trump from accountability. Biden needs to step down and we need to empower a candidate that can actually take the fight to Trump.

I think it's a testament to Biden voters and how they openly support his racism. That's really scary **** when someone says something is racist then openly supports it. People are smart and see this blatant double standard on hatred towards blacks. I mean to say something is racist then openly support that person after he was racist shows that racism is alive and well. I mean only the very far right radicals would call Trump racist and support him, like those who support openly racist Biden while openly admitting he's a racist. These ardent self-admitted racists want to talk baggage yet they support a person that is racist by their own standards. That's called racism and hypocrisy.
