Will Hayward be around in two years?

Hayward is probably a max player (according to the market), but definitely not irreplaceable. I wouldn't pay him the max at the risk of losing Favors, Rudy, or Hood.

30-35 million is a crazy number but i think at this stage Gordon is the only one on the team worthy of a max. Dude shows up and works night in night out, great attitude, keeps on improving. Complete all round game, maybe not crazy peaks like what Rodney has but he's a very very fine player and a bunch of lesser players will get maxed over the next 3-4 years. We'll probably need a go to guy who's better than him to compete for a title, but we aint getting to that point without Gordon. Pay him, he deserves it.

It's great to say that in a vacuum. but who do you then let go as everyone comes off their rookie deals: Favors? Gobert? Hood? Or maybe Exum? And that's in addition to Burks. Once you give Gordon that kind of money, you can only afford two more max/near max players. Favors and Gobert are going to get huge offers. And it looks like Hood is headed in that direction.

Favors is not coming off his rookie deal, he is coming off his wus deal where he settled for 4/48 when Hayward got Max. With that said I pay Favors Max in 2 years when he is up (Hayward up in 1 now).

Hood I pay. Will not cost much because MAX is set per player and he is a 2nd round pick.

Exum has prove jack sh&t, he's hurt all the time. No clue.

Gobert. Jury out for me.....

This is my fear to be honest, he is our franchise guy and he embodies everything we stand for. Pay him what he wants he belongs in Utah long term! He is truly an allstar.

So I see Chicago is thinking about moving Butler... Would you do Hayward for butler? Would get rid of the will he resign issue? I think he's more of a go to type scorer than Hayward but I'm not sure what his issues are exactly. Seems like kind of a jerk but he might be the right type of jerk... Like draymond green. I'm sure contract length would likely mean we have to add something to the deal.

I rather keep Hayward, he is a better team player. Butler may be a better scorer but not by much.

I would do that. Butler is the better defender and scorer. Whats his contract like?

Butler's defense dropped once he became a better offensive player and Hayward improved tremendously. I wouldn't rank him any higher.

We just disagree

According to true followers of the game. Does your definition of NBA standards include fan voting?
Did the fans vote Hayward an all star and I just never heard about it?
Did the coaches?
I'm confused

True followers of the game think Hayward is an allstar including fans and commentators. However we all know that the all star games is a popularity selection.

To clarify I was simply stating that just because Hayward doesn't get as much exposure and isn't as popular doesn't disqualify him from being an all star. Votes don't determine true all stars just get them to the game.

I think Hayward is all star level... we didn't win enough imo

3 years after this one with player option for 4th (which he'll never pick up) Average about 18-19 M per year.

If their contracts were the same I'd prefer Hayward.
