Withey accused of domestic violence

I'm naturally cautious and skeptical of things like this. Of all parties involved. I am skeptical of her report, timing, mental state...

I am cautious of Withey as well. Plenty of people are fantastic at hiding their true nature to the outside world. Then behind close doors they are abusive in many ways. It is completely possible that he did exactly what she is accusing him of.

Either way I will not shame or attack her and she should get a fair and impartial investigation into this. I also won't demonize him and hope for his sake that he also receives a fair and impartial investigation.

As far as the Jazz go their line should to keep Withey's participation with the team exactly as it has been. Voice support for a full and impartial investigation. Privately tell Withey that if this is true than he is gone immediately and not welcome back.

Interesting discussion.

Jazz PR released this statement:

"We are aware of the media reports involving Jeff Withey. At this point, we are collecting information and will have no further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation."

The more I think about it the more it stinks. Interesting that this comes out just when Withey is at the very height of his career importance.

If it was a ploy to distract the jazz....mission accomplished.

There's wildly more media here in SLC for Jazz practice today than there was in LA for Clippers practice, which is kind of surprising.

True or untrue. Sad either way.

No winners here. Either he's a scumbag or she is or both.

I think the timing really sucks and puts the organization in a can't win scenario... assume guilt and dismiss the guy... tell everyone you need it to play out and then get accused of being pro-abuse

This year man... injuries and bs like this... wasn't supposed to be this way.

Agree well put.

As i am married to someone who has endured abuse through her life, the way a woman -- or any person -- handles abuse is individually unique. Timings may seem weird, or sometimes they don't want to report anything at all -- there is no right time to seek action against abuse, whats important is that action is being taken -- any associated shaming of the victim is uncalled for. They could have difficulties facing the problem due to self shame, embarrassment, fear, or a whole other myriad of issues. I'm one for "innocent until proven guilty", but i'm also one for defending a potential victim from "shaming" or "suspicion" due to allegations of abuse. No one should have to face scrutiny for seeking action against abuse, and its the nay-say attitude of the public against these victims that feeds into the lack of action in the first place.

Perfectly said.

Uhhhhh. What is a "law" in science? What is the difference between "theory" and "law"? What makes psychology immune to the scientific method?
I don't know if you are just trying to troll me or if these are questions you really have. I don't think this is the place or the forum to discuss this.

I think they should let the legal process play out. That should be their position, imo.

I would 'generally' agree. But, if there is video of him beating his wife or similarily damning evidence of his guilt, go ahead and skip the legal part.

Please everyone read this five times. Truth.
