WOJ: Korver to Jazz for Burks and 2 second rounders

I don't know why this trade is getting so much hate.

We have 2 specialists on the entire team- Gobert rim protecter and Ingles with the 3. We hope Donovan emerges as a scorer. That's it. Everybody else is a role player. Korver provides an elite trait we sorely lack whereas being a great guy is a trait Burks has but it doesnt win ball games.

People get way way too attached to mediocre players here yet absolutely crush other mediocre players. Burks has been on the outs for seasons. Get over it.

The does tend to happen to guys who are white, good shooters, and not athletic. In any case, I remember an Atlanta assistant (maybe even Quin?) rave about his D. I haven’t followed him at all so I have no idea where his D is at these days. With regard to him passing up shots to preserve the record, I know he acknowledged it, but it’s not something I ever remember happening. I do remember being frustrated that we never really embraced him as Sloan didn’t believe in the three, and he never shot it all that well (compared to his career) for his duration here, sans his limited attempt record.

He could see time at the 4.

I was pissed when we darfted Hayward and then let Korver walk. Always felt he was underrated. Now that Hayward is gone we bring him back. Sad to see Burks go. Hope he tears it up and gets to the all star game on a coach’s selection while Hayward watches from home.

I remember a game where the other team stole the ball and ran a fast break. Korver was the only Jazz player that ran back on D -- he closed the gap on the dribbler and blocked the layup from behind.

I never understood why Sloan never had a player set a pick for Korver to set up his 3-point shot, but, like you said, Sloan didn't believe in the three.

I do remember Korver passing up open looks to protect his 3%, which pissed me off, but I still wanted him re-signed.

I don't understand why he was never in our starting lineup.
 
I don't know why anyone would complain about Korvers age. We probably weren't keeping Burks past this season. And the second rounders aren't a necessity. We've been selling them anyway. DL has been using those roster spots to go search overseas/gleague to find players. And it's worked because he's found Ingles, O'neale, Udoh, Niang. All of those guys have been contributors. So who cares if Korver is in his late 30's? It's not like we gave up our future for him. Korver has a skill we desperately need. It's a win.

Exactly. Also, it should be noted that he is still in great physical shape and has one of the fastest releases in the league, that can't be underestimated at all in our screen heavy offense.

If you made threes and the other team didn’t, you win. You don’t even look at the rebounds or the turnovers or how much transition D was involved. You don’t even care. That’s how much an impact the three-point shot has and it’s evidenced by how everybody plays.”

Would love a legit shakeup to the starting lineup. Even having Mitchell run point and have Korver/Ingles/Gobert/Crowder as the other 4 on the floor to start as we move forward.

The game used to be better.
