What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

To get anything besides cap space by losing him. To get grease for other deals.

I don't want Favors on this team given the realities at hand.
You are going to be disappointed... unless we trade Favors as part of Conley/Lowry type of trade.

The two-year data on Gobert and Favors* is Gobert without Favors (~+9) is better than:
-Gobert with Favors (~+6)
-Favors without Gobert (~+1)

That's playing beside any one of Jerebko, Crowder, Niang, Sefolosha, and whoever else. In other words, not very good NBA players. I am not paying $18 million or $12 million or the MLE for a guy to play 16 good minutes per game behind Gobert.

*According to numbers found by a guy most commonly criticised for not being critical enough: David Locke

Not only that.. but bigs aren't nearly as valuable as trade assets. Have a three and D wing on a $15M contract and you want to move em you can at least get a second. A non-shooting big at $18M and it's no thank you we can get a guy at the minimum.

If we miss on Favs give Rudy Gay $18M for a year... better fit, better trade asset if we go that route.

I don't hate the flexibility route... build it on 1+1's that could actually have trade value doe.

If we did that, renounced everyone, Korver retired, and we traded Crowder for a pick, how much cap space would we have? Enough to get Harris?

Okay, so trade Favors and our 1st for Dinwiddie and Harris.

Renounce all six guys.

Trade Crowder and Allen to someone fora late 1st/early 2nd. Use that to draft BPA. Trade or cut Neto and Bradley.

Use cap space to offer Harris 4/120 which I think is the most we could offer him. Approximately.

Use full MLE on Cory Joseph.

Dinwiddie-Joseph
Mitchell-Exum
Ingles-Harris
Harris-O’Neale-Niang
Gobert-?

If the Nets trade Dinwiddie, I would imagine it would be for salary cap relief so they could sign Irving to a max deal. The best way to get Dinwiddie without losing assets is to absorb Crabbe too. Combined, they make about $31 million. If a team took Crabbe, I don't think they would have to add a great asset in order to get Dinwiddie. Brooklyn wants to get that other max player AND re-sign Russell now.

Once we get into July, Favors works for Crabbe and Dinwiddie if we renounce Rubio, Thabo and Udoh. That clears about $13 million for the Nets. If we could get them to take retiring Korver too, that still saves them $10 million. We would be left with about $9 million in cap space if we traded Korver and Favors for Crabbe and Dinwiddie.

Lets re-ignite the Beal trade discussion.

Not counting Wall, don’t the Wizards still have a bunch of salary they would like to get off?

Favors, Exum, Allen, our first rounder

For

Beal and Mahinmi

And yes, the Lakers could destroy this offer, and would.

I just really don’t want to run the same team back again, idc if that’s a dumb way to run a team. We’ve been trying to make this **** work long enough, I’m so curious what we’d look like trying to put out a modern day NBA lineup. Quin can already generate great offensive looks with this square peg squad. I want to see it unleashed. Anything but kicking the can down the road for another season
