What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Per Andy Larsens…. In his weekly run podcast...

We have like a 25-45% shot at getting Tobias. He mentioned Tobias was not really into the vibe around Philly. Too much drama. His first choice would be Brooklyn, but if the Nets want to sign Kyrie and retain Russell then they can't do that. So we'd be the next choice on his list.

So I guess... if Kyrie goes to Brooklyn we end up nabbing Tobias or Russell (I think). It seems reasonable that we won't end up empty handed. Who knows... maybe Brooklyn focuses on Kyrie and we push hard on Tobias and he doesn't want to wait.

Anyway... there is some hope.

Yeah I was surprised to hear that Andy heard Utah was his second choice. So that was cool. If Tobias doesn't sign with us, I hope it's Brooklyn since that's one domino that needs to fall to at least have a chance at D'Lo.

The other domino...

That's only going to make it hurt more when he signs will the Brooklyn

We just need so much to break right for us that Kyrie signing in Brooklyn would be the best case scenario, right? That is, assuming you want the Jazz to sign Tobias or D'Angelo. If Kyrie signs with the Nets, they pair Kyrie and D'Lo and can't afford Tobias. And if you believe Larsen, then we could be next in line. If Kyrie signs with Brooklyn and that convinces Tobias or another max guy to go to there, they would have to renounce D'Angelo and we would have a shot at him.

KD and Kyrie need to go to Brooklyn.

Freeze Tobias out.

Honestly we just need Kyrie to show a lot of interest but take his time committing and it might be enough of a hesitation to snake Tobias away.

Not gonna lie. I’d love to see KD and Kyrie in Brooklyn, Tobias in Utah, Leonard stay in Toronto and DLo end up in Indy. Completely freeze out the Lakers, Knicks, Dallas...the big destinations.

Yes. Kyrie going to Brooklyn is better for our scenario than if he went to LA, LA, NY or stayed in Boston. By going to Brooklyn, Tobias is likely out of contention for Brooklyn. And it's also possible that Russell could come into play with Kyrie going to Brooklyn because they don't have max money right now for Kyrie. Something has to give.

The only bad thing about Kyrie going to Brooklyn is that NOLA will probably trade AD to the Lakers. Boston won't trade Tatum or a bunch of picks for AD if Kyrie isn't there. I don't think NY has enough assets to get AD. #3 and Dennis Smith Jr or Knox just isn't as strong as #4 and Kuzma and Ball or Ingram.

But yes, root for Kyrie to go to Brooklyn for a lot of reasons.

I cannot believe that Sean Marks would be stupid enough to make a Billy King-esque mistake after doing such a good job rebuilding that team. But I sure as he'll hope that he is and we can benefit from it.
