What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Crowder was streaky too... just he was worse overall... and we were amazing with him on the floor. If we kept Favs we won't invest in a solid NBA backup center... there might be one available but if you move Favs midseason for something like Mirotic (like we are shopping at a car lot and there are lots of options) then you need to address backup center too.
Additionally, I would love the Jazz to have 5-out potential lineups and Favors kills that too (even though he’s a really good basketball player).

We need to look to raise the ceiling of the team. Our best 5 man units need shooters at the 4... doesn't have to be Niko but he's a viable option.

I'd take Rudy Gay, JaMychal Green... but long term why are we still messing with this... even if we kept him this year do you see us being a match for each other next year?

Read my mind.

I can live with streaky at 7 million and with the Favors safety blanket. When Crowder went cold we could go 3 or 4 minutes without a bucket. Obviously, a lot of that was on Rubio too. I don't know I just don't see the "eye of the tiger" in Mirotic. The Jazz do well with guys that have high motors and moxie. I'm probably overreacting.

I think the goal of filling out the rest of the roster is to find as many switchy, versatile players as possible. Have your starting lineup be 4-out with a lot of creation and then Gobert yakking on everyone. Then your bench is a bunch of 6-5 to 6-9 players that can play three positions or more. Part of that is having a backup that can play center and comfortably shoot the three at >33%. That gives the Jazz an answer to everything that could be through at them.

That’s generally how I would approach things after figuring out who the starting 4 is. Players like Caruso, Carroll, and Royce fit that bill. Oni and Brantley might also.

There is a lot of chatter to Miami doing a sign and trade for Butler. https://allucanheat.com/2019/06/23/miami-heat-draft-trade-jimmy-butler/

If Butler 100% says no to Philly but Philly is still keeping Tobias and Redick, it makes sense for Philly to get anything they can for Butler via sign and trade. Philly can't sign and trade Butler AND keep Tobias and Redick. Their cap holds/salaries will be too big. That also means they can't accept all that much back in a trade in terms of contracts. So a 3rd team with space would be necessary and that's where we could come in.
If the resign boban, and Reddick early for reasonable deals they would be fine. They will probably drop a bunch of the other players that are cap holds. They have a pretty good salary situation since they only have 4 players under contract and 3 of those are rookie deals.

I mean he's less streaky than Jae because the overall numbers are much better in his direction. Either that or the highs are higher. Some of the eye of the tiger stuff is over-rated... I mean Kawhi has yet to show a human emotion. Jae isn't this high motor hustle guy imo… he makes plays and plays with emotion... it has some value but the production is more important.
