What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Not completely. I think they could pull off trades.

For instance, they could trade Dinwiddie for Korver and our 1st rounder. Then waive stretch Korver, then use a first round pick to trade a player into another teams cap space.

Even with just the Korver/Dinwidde trade it gets them to 28 million, so they would just have to give away Joe Harris to some team.

The Dinwiddie idea is a great one. I don't believe it would get done during the draft though. I feel like it would get done after a free agent like Tobias or Kyrie shows their intent to sign with Brooklyn. At that point, we would be looking at deals using our 2020 1st OR taking Crabbe off their hands. Depending on how badly we are doing in free agency, we might just take Dinwiddie and Crabbe, send back Korver and a 2nd, and call it a day. Unlike Favors, Crabbe is the type of expiring we would use at the deadline.

That’s worse than selling it for half the amount of a minimum roster caphold?
Yeah, I think it's generally just a bad look to do something that's pandering to that degree.

Invite him to the summer league team/sign him to the Stars to and maybe even a roster spot on the opening days of training camp, but don't draft him.

Harris knows damn well his bro isn't good enough to get drafted, but he'd appreciate the Jazz giving him earned opportunity that's in line with what he's worth and the opportunity to live by each other (assuming they like each other enough for that to be a positive).

How does that hurt the Jazz? Hell, turning our first and Korver into Dinwiddie would be the greatest thing to happen this offseason. We could even keep Favors with two guards that can actually shoot.

I said it hurt the Jazz?

So the Nets then. Do we really think he is going to go back and play with Lebron? Kyrie going to the Nets is a pretty good domino to fall.

Eh, there was a reason Kyrie ran away from LeBron the first time. The speculation that they might reunite makes everyone buzz, which Kyrie likes. If however, he goes there, I would be OK with it. There are a lot more dangerous FAs that the Lakers could get, and there is the very good chance he goes Boston Kyrie in that situation which would be marvelous.

Sorry I thought that people were discussing how Kyrie going to Brooklyn is pretty positive for the Jazz because it rules out them signing Harris. Then you said that they could still take Harris by working a wonderful trade with the Jazz. I guess you made that as a consolation, but I would rather have THAT deal than actually signing Harris.

I could see that, but I'd much rather just have Harris.
