Ugh I would not be excited if we traded all that for Conley. He's 31 and fragile. He gets hurt and this board will be on suicide watch.
I'd rather use the space for someone younger who can grow with DM and Gobert. But this "win now" mentality is the way it is now days. So whatever..

I agree with this. I'm sick of acquiring 1-2 year stopgap PGs while the FO waits for Exum to become unded and magically transform into the next Kobe. I think we're more than one piece away from contending.
We knew of his suckiness though and his injury historyHindsight. No one knew of Exum's ded status until well after the deadline.
Can the jazz just wait to strike out in free agency and then call up Memphis for a trade? You know who is really fragile? Exum. Kawhi played all of 60 games this year after missing all of last year. Yes, different players/tiers etc. But when you throw out your best lineups, you win games. Mike Conley the basketball player is better than most of who we've had on this team for the past several years.
And those younger players? You have to draft them. They're tied up as RFAs for the first 7-8 years of their careers. Convincing someone to sign here is difficult, to say the least. You'd rather wait to strike out in a few weeks than get a sure thing?
Yes, but they may not have Conley at that point. We could certainly resurrect some of those "is Parsons > Hayward" discussions. Can the jazz just wait to strike out in free agency and then call up Memphis for a trade?

But is the new PF just Jae Crowder getting 35+ minutes with Niang spelling him? Because that's still extremely meh.Even if Conley is hurt most of the season, we're still improved because we're not trying to force a center to play PF and we will have hopefully picked up another PG who's not Exum. And maybe Jazz leaves if Exum is gone, so there's literally no way to lose the Conley trade.
