What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Part of me turned on Exum so that I don't get my hopes up for a breakout only to watch something ****** happen or for him to play bad. Kind of like a reverse jinx. With Conley and DM there is less pressure to perform... I will still count anything we get from him as a found money (either on the court or in trade).

I wish we would have negotiated that deal a little harder and it was closer to 6-7M or he was non-guaranteed in the final year...

Fair enough. I wish they had got an extra year on the deal as a team option. But I am guessing Exums camp didnt want that and was betting on himself. They signed up to slightly above MLE deal since that is what a bunch of teams would have offered him IMO. I am guessing most of those would have been 4 year deals as well. But who knows, all a guessing game.

For the record I think the hate on Exum on this board has gone way overboard. It's kind of ridiculous to be fair. It's not like he goes out there and on purpose tears ligaments and breaks bones... He's had ****** luck throughout his career which has hampered his development. At this point he's probably missed way too much developmental time and has suffered way too much damage to ever become what he could have become had he stayed healthy, but lets hope he gets back and stays healthy, because with the pathetic depth we will have this season we will need him to provide important minutes for this team and he will almost certainly be on the team so you better get used to cheering him on.
For the record I have no ill will toward Dante Exum, and I don’t see why being frustrated with all that is factual would make it “hate”.

I still dont understand why people think it is so unreasonable for Tobias to accept around $29 million when max is $32.7. If he signed a 2 year deal with a 2nd year player option, he could decline and we could re-sign him for longer and more than a 2019-20 max next summer.

Can't we sign him for up to max or 120% of his previous year's salary? So if the cap jumps another $5-10 million for 2020 as anticipated, he will get his payday. His first year of his new 2020 contract could be around $35 million.

Would I? Yes. Would our FO? No. I still have faith Exum can be good, but I think Okobo and Jackson can too.

I think we trade Exum for one of two things - proven player OR cap space. This trade idea is neither.

This says more about you as a human being than a talent evaluator.

Trade Exum, get a solid stretch 4 to replace Crowder. Have DM play back up point, and cross our fingers Foreman can get a solid 12-14 minutes a game.

Is there anybody who sends us an asset for Favors' contract? Boston maybe?

Even a 2nd rounder. Isn't that better than just waiving?

Derrick is the best readily tradable asset the Jazz have, so we could get something for him if we wanted. But the issue becomes filling his slot. I get the distinct impression Utah only deals or cuts him if someone like Harris is coming.

What? Did I miss something? Didn't Jackson just run from some security guard at a concert or something?

Unintentionally got his infant child high as well... so he’s having a summer.
