Yeah, I regret it. But it's about the fact that not everyone (Ty for instance) can do what Snyder did. Snyder was asked to develop a defensive identity for the Jazz and look what we have... A team that absolutely takes pride in defense and I'm sure after three games is at the top of the league in defense. Defense improved all season last season, and then some big adjustments were made by Snyder and defense immediately went from modest improvement to best in the league. Snyder took half a season to build the ember and then he lit the flame, and it's mother****ing glorious!
 
Corbin DID create a defensive identity. He got very defensive with questions from the press regarding any of his decisions.

2013 was a tank year. For all his coaching deficiencies (and there are plenty of them) Ty Corbin was set up to fail. Had Kanter played 30+ minutes and they kept JLIII in as the starting PG, the Jazz would have gotten Wiggins. What an atrocious year that was for anyone who didn't embrace the tank. Ouch.
 
Corbin is so far back in the rearview mirror - she's like the girl you dated in high school for 6 months and you look back and wonder how she lasted one week. And now you're married to Kate Upton.

He's buried - let's keep it that way.

Lol. This isn't even fair. Quin has a front line of a much improved favors and Gobert while Ty had Al and Millsap. Lol then a less experienced favors and Kanter (worst Jazz defender of all time.) also some of the pg's Ty had to work with make Burke look all world on defense. Lol

yes i am impressed. hayward seems to be playing moire/better defense under snyder than under corbin.
same is said for burk and others who where here when corbin was

yet even at tanking corbin failed.
tanking is about giving rookies minutes.
not develop vets

It's not that simple. You need the right pieces. Gobert is what makes us who we are. Especially since it replaced Kanter. Im not defending Corbin, but his team had Al Jefferson. It takes the right pieces to do what you want to. Quin is smart, but he's also lucky to have Gobert.

Meanwhile, Corbin was unlucky to have Gobert, right? Does anyone here believe that Gobert would have become what he has under continued coaching by Corbin?

I think it's far more likely that the development would have happened quicker if Gobert's rookie season had been under Snyder than it is that the development would have happened at all if Gobert had remained under Corbin. The difference between these coaches is gigantic.

Of course Quin is better. I'm not arguing that. But is Phil Jackson the legendary 11 ring coach without Jordan,Pippen, Shaq, and Kobe? No.

Quin is lucky to have Gobert. The defense would not be the same without him
