What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

I saw it tonight. I read all of the books because my kids begged me to, but I only saw the first and the last movie. I thought they were well done. I don't agree with your suggested plot change at all.

Yeah it was the most sensible ending they could have gone for. I was just speaking from a different perspective, could it have been stretched out a bit so we as fans get a bit more satisfaction & enjoyment out of it?


Overall it's a fantastic concept, I just wished the writer of the original book could have stretched it out a bit more. More Hunger Games, more players, more personalities, more stories & plot twists, etc, ala the Harry Potter franchise. I guess they didn't think it would turn out to be such a big hit.

Stretching things out is rarely enjoyable for anyone. Did you see the last Hobbit? It was a disservice to the books and the movie franchise.

Nah haven't seen the Hobbit movies at all, just didn't think I'd like it so I've basically avoided it.


I'm not saying take the same material and "stretch it out", I'm thinking more how the Harry Potter franchise have done it, tracked the boy from when he was young to mature (7 years?), he goes back to school each year and face different challenges, but there is a bigger story behind it as well (i.e., the re-emergence of Lord Voldemort and how their paths eventually collided).


There's just so much more they could have done based off of the concept of the Games itself and the world of Panem.... dunno may be I'm asking too much.

Finally watched original Star Wars trilogy and all I can say is meh. It was nice and actually very watchable after the first half of A New Hope.

That's a bit unfair. Hunger Games definitely has a pretty far reaching fan base, it's not like it's the vampire movie (the name escapes me, the one with Robert Pattinson).

Finally watched original Star Wars trilogy and all I can say is meh. It was nice and actually very watchable after the first half of A New Hope.

Without Harrison Ford, those movies would suck. His charisma is palpable. He adds the stud element and humor to what would be a pretty lackluster series of films otherwise imo.

Meh. Some of the best adaptations blatantly disregard fidelity.

Stephen King didn't like what Kuberick was doing with The Shining, so SK basically told King to just **** off. King later made his own "more faithful" adaptation of his book and it was so bad that no one even knows it exists.

Well the writer could have expanded the material (i.e., write more books, exploring more ideas & characters, etc).


But I guess there was no way she could have known that the movies would have been such a big hit... but even then she could have still worked with the studio to expand her ideas, etc.


But I guess it's easier just to take the money and move on.. LOL ..

...Spycam already handled you, but there are many other examples than the Shining. Kubrick also took important/good liberties with Clockwork Orange. ETC.

I've read a decent amount on adaptation theory, and I definitely don't think fidelity to the original source should be the primary goal of an adaptation. What's the point of even making an adaptation if the goal is simply to replicate what the original source did? If all people want is to re-experience the book exactly as it was, then my suggestion would be to re-read the book lol.
