I wouldn't say it went pretty much unnoticed as it did $202m worldwide in ticket sales on a $55m budget, that seems to me like a pretty good return...


I was going to see it but then thought isn't it going to be the same as every climbing tragedy movies ever made? K2, Vertical Limits, Touching the Void... etc. They all set out on the journey, the weather started to turn, they persisted in reaching the top, there was a snow storm, an avalanche, they got stuck on the mountain, they suffered and then they got rescued.


How does it differ in plot to those other movies may I ask?

Well I'm not sure of the circumstances about that film but let's say they're equally as crazy...aw, forget it. Your logic is just illogical. And besides, you don't even know anything about what happened in the Everest expedition so to just presume it's like those films is dumb.

I have fallen asleep twice now watching Big Short. Will try it one more time tonight. If I manage to finish it I am sure to fall asleep watching the Detroit game.

It does have a lecture-y quality to it, I felt like I should've brought a notebook.

So my brother got me sundance tickets he didn't really tell me what movie it was but it ended up being the documentary on the Newtown elementary shooting. Not my first choice but I'd wanted to see a sundance movie. As you might expect it was a really tough one to watch, it focused on the families effected by the tragedy and some of the emergency personnel. It spoke very briefly about the shooter and his mom but never mentioned his name. Sad to remember how young they were(when the shots rang out one of the teachers said the kids heard everything and some of them oddly starting laughing because they though it was a joke or something). And they heard all the screaming. How do you move on from something like that? I have no idea, that's tough. They demolished the old school and are building a new one in it's place set to open this year. After the show they had a Q&A with the director and one of the parents of a victim who was featured. They asked her if she would ever forgive the shooter, and she didn't know if she ever would, he made his choice that day and she blamed the mom for not seeing warning signs in her son and allowing him to be around guns. She said that most gun owners are completely responsible, it's just more of a mental health issue.

Black Mass. Solid. The storytelling could've been better. It just didn't feel all that interesting. 7/10 on imdb seems about right. I'd probaby score it a 7.2-7.3.

Saw Revenant and kicked ***. It's a must-see-on-theaters movie.

Especially the bear rip apart scene. You just don't expect the scene to get any longer and worse since it's DiCaprio after all and the movie would end if he died.
