What's new

George Hill

Go get Hill FTW. Three way with PHX so we can clear out Burks’ salary, too.

Why so high on Hill when Mitchell can easily be deployed at the point???? Many hate to admit, but what we need is scoring at the forward spot, filling the gap left by Hayward. Ingles is a role player on a winning team at his best. He's clearly been asked to do too much since Hayward left. And the way Joe Johnson has been playing this season certainly doesn't help.

This, Ingles as a sixth man or starting at the 2 playing 25 to 30 mins would be ideal, much like he did last year.

Rubio is an uptempo crafty pass first pg, notice he no longer has those highlite reel passes ? He can't because it's not in our offensive structure , Favors would get hit in the head and would get another concussion with Rubio's passes lol.

Agreed - Rubio has no one to run the court with him. It's just a bad fit. Rubio's shooting might be more palatable if he was giving us 8-9 APG instead of 4-5; but even still you can't be a winning team in this league anymore if you have a starting PG who can't consistently hit open shots.

Hill might be really good with Donovan. I like that with those two you have guys who don't turn the ball over.

But I think you hope that Ricky plays poorly to aid the tank with the occasional good game to keep other teams interested. Then package Ricky to a team willing to base their decision off of his play last year post-all-star break. Next year Dante and Donovan and Raul share backcourt duties.

Oh **** your macho ********. Tell us more about your expertise in journalism.
WTF? I just asked when was the last time DL spoke glowingly about GH? DL was a huge fan of Hill; that's why he traded for him. But that was before negotiations and before Hill sat out the GS series.
Pretty sure there was a Jazz beat writer who wrote what I voiced - that Utah wouldn't consider a Hill return. Maybe I'll search the archived to find, probably I won't. Because my memory is sufficiemt to remember there were those who raised eyebrows over Hill sitting out the GS series. And obviously, Hill wasn't willing to compromise on a contract.
And my journalism experience is the same as yours. I can reasonably string together sentences which qualifies me to post my opinion on a fan board.

I included the article in a link in an earlier post. In May he said he was his pride and joy and that they would likely be each other's best options in FA. That was before Gordon tricked us into the Rubio trade. I think we were/are more open to Hill returning than people think. If we never made the Rubio trade and Hayward left I could see us offering the exact contract he signed (or close to it).

He has hurt his value... I wonder if we could do Rubio and AB for him... maybe a three team trade with Rubio or AB going to Phoenix, but if it was just Rubio of Hill and we are trying to win... I do that all damn day.

I guess we don't know exactly what The Jazz offered Hill when they tried to extend him last March; but I think most folks would agree it is probably more than what he signed/guaranteed for in Sac.

So, if he's on the block as a salary dump, it would just be a matter of the FO swallowing their pride and admitting they ****ed up on Rubio.

Fair enough...but we saw they weren't each other's best options, not in Hill's mind. Obviously having Hill committed to returning, who was supposedly one of Gordon's BFF''s would have strengthened the sales pitch to Hayward.
Instead, Hill tried to play hardball and demanded a king's ransom. So DL had to go to option B. Not sure Lindsey would have the same attitude he had in May. Would you?

You don't do a thing until you talk to Rudy. A few wins this season are not worth a riff in the locker room. We all profess Rudy and Mitchell are the future, then make sure they are involved with a decision that may have caused ill feelings in the past. My guess, Rudy says hell no! I want someone who competes every opportunity he's given.

And for the record...i think Hill would be a much better fit than Rubio. I just dont think that's something that would ever happen.

Unfortunately I agree - I think the real world chances of The Jazz finding a team to take Rubio and working out a deal with Sac to take on Hill are slim at best.

But the one thing most folks would agree on is Rubio is a bad fit and should not be on the team past this season - at the latest.

I heard something about a lot of Phoenix fans wanting Rubio. Obviously fans aren't GMs, but it'd be interesting to know if them wanting another PG and thinking his style of play could be helpful could have some legs to it. If so, it'd be easy to get involved in a three-way if Sacramento is simply looking to dump salary as they could take on Monroe's expiring deal.

I don't think Phoenix would do it and I was the one posting that some Suns fans were cool with that deal. I do think you could do some sort of variation like this...

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine

Sacramento gets off of $9M... they would buyout JJ and he could join a contender. Phoenix may pony up a second in this scenario as they have a ton.

If we could get Phoenix to go straight Rubio for Monroe I'd do that and then try and do AB plus something for Hill... if we wanted him.

You need to save the trade and then link that, otherwise it's just a link to the trade machine.

Ah... How about this...

Ricky to Phoenix, Jared Dudley and JJ to Sacramento, Hill to Utah.

Hill is too old and too expensive. Way outside of our timeline, which should focus on players between the ages of 22 and 27. Unfortunately, it probably means that Thabo and Udoh aren’t long for their Jazz careers.

Hill is barely more cost than Rubio, but that’s kind of like saying would you rather pay $15 for Nacho Bell Grande or $20 for shrimp primavera?

Thabo and Udoh are fine. We don’t need an entire team fitting within a certain window. They’re role players and pretty damn good ones at that. If we land a Niko or good big that can space, then next year (hell, even this year), we’re on the upswing and we can reassess Thabo, Udoh and Jonas after next season.

I would like this but he's honestly not coming back. If we traded for him, we essentially gave away a pick for Rubio and then we had to trade more crap for Hill when we could have had him for free (meaning no picks/vets/trades/whatever). That's a huge double negative for a small market team.
