Wingspan, weight, and standing reach all matter a lot.

Agreed. Here’s wingspan/vertical reach comparisons added to my previous post on heights. A better measurement is indicated by a positive number, a worse by a negative. Not all measurements are available for older players. I won’t do weights. I think everyone knows where these players’ weights place them in the NBA scheme of things.

Kemba height = Raymond Felton (-0.75/-6.5); ¼ inch taller than Ty Lawson (2.75/-3), Johnny Flynn (-0.5/-4); ¼ inch shorter than Chris Paul (-0.75/-1.5), Eddie House (0/-3.5).
In other words, Kemba’s height isn’t as bad as everyone expected, but arms seem relatively short. Still, a just-barely-smaller Chris Paul seems accurate.

Brandon Knight = Jason Terry, Derek Rose (-1.25/0); ¼ inch taller than Roddy Beaubois (-3/-1.5), George Hill (-2.25, 1); ¼ in shorter than Deron (0.5/0.5), Devin (-0.75/0)
Knight seems to be very much like our two most recent PGs in length.

Kanter = Greg Monroe (-0.75/1), Troy Murphy (2.5/4), DeAndre Jordan (-4.5/-4), Rasheed Wallace; ¼ inch taller than DeMarcus Cousins (-4.25/-3.5), Channing Frye (-1,-1); ¼ in shorter than LaMarcus Aldridge (-3.25/-0.5), Nazr Mohammed, Kwame Brown (0.5/1.5)

Singleton has a very good wingspan for his size, but not as good vertical reach, despite being a shot blocker. Measures nearly identical to Danny Granger. Compare also to Josh Smith (0.75/1/-3)

DWill = Lebron (1.25/1.75), Tyus Thomas (-1.5/0), Hakim Warrick (-0.5/0), Richard Jefferson (1.5/5); ¼ taller than Rudy Gay (-1.5/0.75), Trevor Ariza (-0.5/0.5), Michael Beasley (1.25/1), Marvin Williams (-2/0), Luol Deng (1/-0.5); ¼ in shorter than Sheldon Williams (-2.75/4), Darrell Arthur (2.75/1), Danny Granger (0/5)
Williams has good length for SF, quite good vertical reach especially. Still a bit short for PF. Compare also to Millsap (1, 0, 2.5); David West (-0.5/-3/-0.5)

Kawhi Leonard = Martell Webster (4/0), Paul Pierce, Anfrenee Hardaway, Jalen Rose; ¼ taller than Thadeus Young (3.5/0), Ronnie Brewer (3.75/2.5), Andre Igoudala (4/0.5), Evan Turner (7/2.5); ¼ shorter than Chase Buddinger (8/3), Paul Millsap (1.5/0.5), Kyle Korver (5.5/3.5), Carmelo Anthony (3/0.5), Brandon Bass (0.5/-0.5)
Leonard has great length for his size, especially wingspan. He measures ½ shorter than Shawn Marion (wingspan and reach not available for Marion). Compare also to Wesley Johnson (-0.25/1.5/0); Hayward (-0.75/7.5 (wow!)/3)

For what it's worth, four of the mock drafts in my current compilation (https://jazzfanz.com/showthread.php?5884-Colton-s-Mock-Draft-Compilation-v.-8.0) are predicting Mismack to be available at #12.

The shine after Bismack's NHS performance is becoming 5 minutes ago. I wonder if he might actually slip to 12 on his own.

I don't want to give up future picks. I want to collect picks for next year's draft.

I will admit I have not seen Biyombo play, other than highlights. But what I read of him in the draft reviews is enough for me to say no thank you. We do not need Ben Wallace light.

I think we need to desperately upgrade our defense.... No one other than Favors even attempts to play defense anymore. Teams were driving easily into the lane against us last year. After watching playoff basketball, that just cannot happen. Nearly every team in the playoffs had a big who was a game changer defensively. And currently, nearly every team alive right now has a real solid enforcer down low.

Heat: Udonis and that dude
Bulls: Noah

Jazz: Fess/Keri Holland/The Doctor who throws stuff up when they shoot free throws

Now I wonder why we're in the lottery and not playing against Dallas?

We have had enough undersized one-dimensional "big men". Doesn't matter what that dimension is. If he were 7'2", and a proven defensive monster, then maybe. 6'9" and no offense at all (project is putting it lightly)? No thanks. If that is the best we are going to do in this draft at the 12 spot, then we need to trade out of it. This guy would be a 20+ pick next year. I am really getting tired of everyone over-inflating the value of these players just because we have 2 lottery picks. Picking 2 pieces of crap from the other crap available is still crap. The top 5 in this draft might be lottery picks in next year's draft, but beyond the 5 spot (3 spot really) they would be fighting for the next spot on the Spurs and Lakers benches.

I don't think this guy is as good as any of those even. This is where trading the pick (and other assets as necessary) to fill a need would be more valuable than adding a questionable project to an already very young team.


And you are seriously so high on Bismack that you think he will be the difference between lottery and WCF? Really?

Dallas also has probably the best backup C in the NBA in Haywood who makes his living on D.

OKC also has Nick Collison who has played some very key minutes. Nazr Mohammed isn't a slouch either. And if Aldrich can ever get minutes then he might be another guy for them.

Miami is interesting. They really don't have a traditional C of any import. Joel Anthony is the closest thing they've got, otherwise their success is because they have athletic superstars at 3 positions flying all over the place and caring.

Chicago also has Omer Asik, Taj Gibson, Kurt Thomas, and the most keen defensive mind in the NBA today coaching them. He might already be in the discussion of all-time greats in that regard (defensive coaching).


The Jazz are nowhere close. Nowhere close to having a defense as capable as those teams. They could if they get really smart and really lucky really quick.

I've been the first and biggest Singleton supporter on this site. I'm not big on Knight but if we took Singleton (or Biyombo) at #12, I'd be ecstatic.

You might have been one of the first (my support of him was fairly early too could have been earleir, not on the 2011 draft thread will try to find post) but these past few posts are the first time you are extremely adamant of taking with with the twelfth, when other posters have been sharing this opinion much before the Draft Combine. I remember him being projected 25th when i started following him. Either way I dont mean to bicker its 2am and I just hope to God we draft this absolute stud because I am 100% sure he will not be a bust. My one wish is to draft hiom with either pick, Im honestly more excited with taking him at 12 than whoever we take with the 3.

Well put. I do not think a single player in this draft will get us that much closer to this goal, especially picked at #12. Trading it is a better option, even if it is just to move into next year's draft which stands to be much deeper.

Dude has a 9'3'' standing reach, a chiseled frame and can apparently jump out of the gym. You don't play the game with the top of your head. And the dude averaged 2.3 blocks and 5.1 boards playing only 17 minutes per game in the ACB (second best league in the world). Seems pretty monster-like to me.
