What's new

How long til we can trust Jae Crowder?

After watching him for 4 games now, I trust him to play hard but I don't think any of his jump shots are actually going to go in.
That’s fair. I know that the numbers said otherwise, but I never felt like Hood’s were going in.

I think the only guys the Jazz have ever had that I felt like it was going in every time it went up was Hornacek and Okur, even though many-a-guys have shot better than them.

Ya, pretty accurate imo. I think it’s enough to get the job done

If there's a reason not to trust him it's because he's new and unfamiliar with the system, other then that he affects the game in a positive way in many area's of the game, and makes winning plays all over the place.

I trust him. I haven’t watched too much but one play I did notice was one where he seemed a bit slow to rotate, not out of laziness but out of sheer size.

I wonder if it would do him some good to lose 5-8 pounds and get quicker.

I think he should be played as a PF. Quin has been using Gobert, Favors, and Crowder all on the floor at the same time. Not enough foot speed.

I agree. I also think playing with the rim reapers makes crowder need to do too much offensively. He needs to be more of a scorer in that lineup imo, which isn’t his strength.

I like crowder much better as a 4. On the other hand I would hate to see jerebko lose more minutes as he has played great in the two games since the all star break. I believe he is number one on the team in plus/minus since the all star break.

I think the better question is, how long until we figure out that Crowder just isn't that good? He's not good on either end, and his "hustle" is getting confused with recklessness.

I think he is definitely good. He's just very unremarkable as a player. I do like his ability cut and get to the FT line. Hopefully at some point the jump shot starts to fall at a higher rate.

So the reincarnation of Trevor Booker?

He's been a good shooter one time in his career. Every other year has been below average. And even if the shot goes in, he's a reckless ball stopper who consistently makes poor decisions. His defense/hustle are very overrated as well.

he needs to play more as a 4 and have less responsibility on offense.

I'm surprised this overreaction thread isn't about Favors. Sure he seems like regular ol Favors but we just have not been good with him out there at all.

He has really weird form. The shooting coaches need to work with him to fix it. He could be a good shooter, as he gets his shot off pretty quickly and generally squares up well, but his form is almost like Lonzo's, but not as exaggerated.

In general for me the jury is still out on Jae. I am not sure we got equal value in that trade, although considering that likely we would have lost Hood in the off-season anyway some value is better than none. I do like his defensive intensity, but he really needs to solidify the "3" part in "3 and D", as well as play a little more under control.

1st of all ,Jazz need to let Exum play for better or worst because the better is that Exum and DM could give Jazz some serious speed and athleticism that they are just flatout not use too.
This grit and grind play of Crowder and O'Neale is not going to get Jazz to the playoffs or make them better for the long run. The points have grinded to a halt and Jazz are struggling to score when they need to the most.
For this offseason ,go get Hezonja ...he would look really good with Exum and Mitchell
