This is the official thread where we can post updates and speculation about Favors. Share thoughts about re-signing Favors, memories of Favors in Utah, and other general speculation.

One of the rumors I've heard is that the Suns will pursue Favs. A new report suggests they are looking to offer Capela something big. That would seem to suggest they'd prefer him over Favs. Why would this sort of info leak now while Capela is in the midst of a run for the title?

Because click bait bro. I think Phoenix is one of the few teams that would offer Favs a contract over the MLE.

I'm down to keep Favors if he's cheap and amenable to role changes game-to-game, or even minute-by-minute. Absolutely.

The difficulty is that the likelihood of that is pretty low, and any situation where he's making 8-figures on a multi-year deal makes me itchy.

They need players, Favors is still not-old. He'd be best as a C, they don't have one.

They are also one of the few teams with space. If Atlanta and Chicago decide not to use their cap space and just rent it to tax teams for draft picks then things could get ugly for free agents.

Dallas and Phoenix are the most realistic teams I could see offering 12-15M for 3-4 years. Maybe another team via sign-and-trade.

Beat writers tend to think Atlanta, Phoenix or Dallas are possibilities for Favors as well, but there just isn't a lot of money on the market.

Pretty sure any team in the league would prefer Capela to Favors. Capela is restricted, though, with a good chance of Houston matching.

They better win a ring this year if they match him on a max deal, though. That core is probably near its apex and they’ll be facing cap hell.

I hope he gets a max offer.

I hope he gets a max offer.

He will get close to it... Cuban could clear enough space and would do it just to eff with the Rockets. I think the Suns will unless they get Bamba, Jackson, in the draft.

Houston would match a max on Capela. No one can take him.

Unless Houston gets Lebron... this is their best chance.

They need to re-sign Ariza and Luc and once the bring back CP and Capela they will be at like 130-135M in payroll and it will limit what kind of contracts they can offer.

If I was him, there'd be no money in the world that could make me sign for the likes of Mavs, Suns, or Hawks. 60 guaranteed losses a year is not worth the extra couple of million.

What if it’s a difference of 10-20M and you like living in those regions more?

Everybody has their price and those teams won’t suck forever.
