Sportando: Stanton Kidd expected to sign with the Jazz

We should trade AB to a team that will give him PT for a second rounder. He needs a reboot. I think he still has a future in the NBA but as the Jazz are now constituted, no way. If he had been able to transition to the point and be a Lou Williams-type player, he would've been great but he doesn't have the mid-range skills of Lou.
Package him with another roster-occupier.

Did anyone else watch that first video and think, "Wow, that Grayson Allen kidd is really good."? I saw some passes, a steal, and hustle that I didn't see in the GA highlight videos

I have officially moved from hating the pick, to excited to see what he does this coming season. Thanks DL, and JF.

I think Kidd will be on the roster. I’m not sure what will happen with Niang, but I think Kidd is better insurance for when Thabo inevitably gets injured.

I wonder how much he would give back in a buyout... not that we’d want to do that but I could see him not wanting to be buried on the bench in a contract year. Otherwise we just keep him and ride it out... he can help us if we sustain some injuries.

I feel like Thabo is really a trade asset, once we brought in Crowder. Those two seem a bit redundant.

Assuming the injury hasn’t slowed him down, but even if he’s fine, I’d prefer the jazz keep him at least this year. Imagine if we would’ve had him and Ricky for the Houston series.

True, but Royce O'Neale emerged as well towards the end of last year. It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out.

AB will have a lot more value at the trade deadline. If the Jazz need to create another roster spot, look for them to waive Neto. Allen's performance in the SL makes Neto very expendable.

Yes, I see the contracts of Burks, Thabo and Udoh as expirings that can be combined with next year's pick for the right veteran.

I think PF has the most available minutes of any position so having redundancy makes sense. If Favs is getting 15-16 minutes at backup C and 12-13 minutes at PF then the other 35 minutes of PF need to come from Thabo and Crowder (who isn't a full time PF imo). I think Royce can pickup a few minutes here as well.

PG, SG, SF all seem to have good options and redundancy.

Kidd would need to be able to play some 4 if we keep him over Niang imo... we have more redundancy on the wing and may need someone who is more of a 4 in case of injury.

We have Allen/AB/Exum that can help if there are injuries to a PG, SG, SF... if we lost Favs then Udoh would grab half his minutes... losing a Crowder or Thabo may leave us a little thin unless we play Royce, Kidd there (I don't view Ingles as a small ball 4 personally).

The Jazz need wings more than they need 4's.

I know the pro-marijuana crowd sells it as a panacea, but is the new narrative that it’s performance enhancing?

I actually remember a court case on this where a snowboarder was denied after testing positive for Mary Jane. In the end, the court ruled is was not a PED, which anyone who's had it could tell ya.

Maybe... DM, Exum, Allen, Royce, AB all play or can play the 2

Ingles, Royce, Crowder, Exum and maybe AB can all play the 3 - 2/3 are fairly interchangeable.

Favs, Crowder, Thabo, and Royce? can play the 4

I assume Kidd would be behind all the guys listed as 2s and 3s in the rotation. If we had an injury to Royce for example I think Crowder, Exum, AB and Allen get some minutes or redistribute minutes from 1/2 to 3.

If Crowder got hurt are we giving Thabo 25 min a night at PF? Would Royce take the remaining minutes? I think he could play some at 4 but others disagree. I think if we had an injury to Crowder or Thabo that another 4 would instantly be in the rotation. So rotation minutes are one injury away.

At 2/3 I think it would take multiple injuries before someone is in the rotation. Kidd or Royce maybe able to play the 4 - Or I guess they'd be the big wing in a 3 wing lineup is more accurate.
