Game Thread: Jazz at Raptors, any minute now

Not this game necessarily, but thebtotality of this season has been aweful. I don’t care about the strength of schedule argument. The way we’ve lost in a lot of games has been the indicator. Again, not specifically tonight, but we don’t have any offense and as a result it’s rendered Donovan fairly ineffective most of the time.

The strength of schedule consultation argument is like getting blown out by 30 and arguing that the opposition will pull there starters a few minutes into the fourth and that you can then make a run, then in the last 1.5 minutes hustle and, despite being down 30 now, may be able to cut the final tally to single digits.

And he's followed it up this year by being...less than great. He's nearly thirty and he's been playing basketball professionally for almost fifteen years, yeah, basically he is who he is.

My point is that by now I think we all have a pretty good idea of who Ricky Rubio the basketball player is, Donovan still has tons and tons of potential for improvement.
He's been better this year at this point in the season than he was last year...

Some people only see missed shots then freak out.

Ingles had to guard the 2nd or 3rd best player in the NBA all game. He just didnt have the energy on offense. It sucks, but it is what it is. Can't really blame him.
Yeah, he was very physical on defense tonight. Can't expect more from him.

All of the guards were bad tonight. Rubio played much better in the 2nd half but his 1st half wasn't good at all, Exum was kinda the reverse with a decent 1st half and bad 2nd half, and Mitchell is struggling in general.

Jazz were 9/32 from deep

Kawhi had a career night and Siakam played really well.

Refs were garbage 3rd quarter

I really don't think we can use the offense being mediocre as an excuse for Donovan. It'd be one thing if he was hitting his easy shots at a good rate, but he isnt. He's been horrendous on open C&S 3's.

For him, I think it's just that teams now have a really great scouting report on all his tendencies and he doesnt know how to counter it yet. Combine that with just flat out poor shooting from 3, and he's having a rough time being efficient.

That says more about how absolute **** he was the first half of last year. Look, I get you like to argue but this is some nitpicky ****.
It's nitpicky? It's facts. Rubio has a long history of playing poorly in the 1st half of the season and well in the 2nd half. This year he started playing well earlier than usual. It's an improvement.

Not sure why Rubio thinks it totally chill to jack up 17 shots while coming back from injurt AND starting off ice cold.

I have faith Dante will improve his finishing the same way hes improved and put together other areas of his game recently.

Who else you want taking the shots?

Mitchell, who was also ice cold or Ingles who didnt make a shot all game? Someone has to take the shots. You cant always gets your preferred shot out of an offensive set.

Ingles must have said some **** to Kawhi, or he was really pissed at the refs. I don't watch a ton of Kawhi, but I've never seen him that ****ing aggressive attacking. Dude was unreal.

Starting backcourt was 13-45. ****s any shot of winning. Also, how does a team lose when only committing 4 turnovers? That’s gotta be some kind of record...

The offensive rating was 115, a mark that would surpass the best ranked offense in the NBA.

So the answer is: Kawhi Leonard was an animal.

Jesus christ dude get off it. It's obvious Donovan has a much higher likelihood of becoming a better player than Rubio does. Thus people are more likely to cut him some slack. That's the only point I was making. Yes I agree Ricky can play better for stretches than he has lately, but there's a definite ceiling to what you can expect from him. There just isn't another level to his game that we haven't seen.

That’s the Maddening game to watch.

1. Refs weren’t consistent in how they officiated the game. Raps got several phantom calls, There were many times raps were able to be much more physical with the jazz.

2. Leonard got whatever he wanted.

3. Once again the jazz couldn’t hit an open shot all game. Don’t ask me how the jazz stayed in this game.

4. I think Mitchell went 7-27 or something in that ball park. If he shoots better maybe the jazz win.

5. Rubio was none existent in the first half. Looked like he was on his way to another 1-11 game for a while. I give Ingles somewhat of a pass, as he was guarded by Leonard. He does that to most players, but he still missed all his threes.

6. Crowder was 5-7 from three. The rest of the team made 4 god damn ****ing 3’s, 4!!!

7. Exum went back to missing a bunch of layups.

That was depressing, I was going to post the first three, but came up with four more as I was typing.

Rubio outplayed Exum and he went against starters. I dont know what game yall are watching.
He was also playing with our starters so this is really a mute point.
Rubio took a ton of BAD shots in that his shot was clanking so hard that it resulted in an easy fast break the other way. And he just keeps taking them, the more he misses the more he takes. His search dribble didn’t produce. The def dares him to shoot when he’s this bad and that clogged everything for the rest of the team.
It seems like I have it in for Rubio (and maybe I do) but his dr jeckle and mr Hyde crap has got to stop. It would be ok if it was a bad game in ten but this season it’s a good game in ten. Not going to fly for a team trying to contend.
