jazz pick up CJ's option

CJ's FG% and 3pt% have dropped every year so far. What makes you think it will go up this year? You really think he has it in him to suddenly get more consistent with average or good games?

Yeah I do. As Jazz fans I think we're too fixated on shooting percentage because we haven't had any shooters. It's very important and I'm not saying it isn't. When I look at CJ I think he made huge strides as a driver. He can also pass effectively off the dribble and played much better defense than anyone gave him credit for. CJ is definitely a scorer, but there are scorers who take a while to become more efficient. Jamal Crawford is a loose comparison, but I think CJ is going to be a better player than Crawford before he's done.

I have heard AK is asking for four years/ $4.5 million per year. At that price the Jazz would be dumb not to bring him back regardless of the CJ situation.

Completely agree. The Jazz do not get that much production for that cheap. Throw in the fact that AK will come off the bench and can play four positions, you do this. Even more of a no brainer than CJ.

I'm glad there's someone out there that still has hope for him. My hope for him to get better took a huge hit last year. I generally try to stay positive, but I guess I have my limits. I do hope he plays better like you say he can, but it just hurts my tender feelings when he fails to do so.

What does cj coming back mean for kirilenko?

We now have burks, hayward, raja and cj fighting for minutes. I can only assume kirilenko is for sure not coming back.

4 years, ugh, thats too much for an often injured veteran. I don't want him back but if they really want to, I would offer a 2 year deal for 8 mil with a 3rd year option

We need 5. AK could be the fifth. Not saying he will be, but I'd be very happy to get him back for the right price. But this won't get addressed until a new CBA unless the Jazz are ready to ink him tonight.

I agree about the right price about the right price. I dont want to hold back our young guys from developing either.

Where from? That would seriously shock me, and you're right--they would be dumb not to bring him back at that price (even though I would greatly prefer a shorter contract).

Bringing AK back "at the right price" is/will be he most overused and overhyped term this summer. It's akin to going to 7-11 and picking up a fountain drink that's flat, tastes musty and has a bad syrup:carbonated water ratio but not feeling bad about because hey, it's hot, you're thirsty, and this beverage happened to come at "the right price". So drink up -- you've earned it!

If the Jazz sign AK for this alleged deal, they need to trade him. If that's not in the plan, then they need to let him walk.

I don't want him on the team. If this amount is a perceived steal, then parlay it into something that doesn't mail it in half the time.

I'm not a huge CJ fan, but this WAS the right move. He DID in fact have several good games for us, in addition to the stinkers most posters here choose to remember. Now, let's look at the Jazz bench last year. WHO would you have preferred to take more shots? Watson? Price? Hayward? AK? Elson? Fesenko? Evans? Memo would've been nice, but wasn't healthy... With our potentially deeper bench this coming season, I doubt CJ will be our primary option for taking shots.

Because THOSE ARE THE MAJORITY. Are you kidding me?

And as for the rest of your argument, his FG% has gone down every year as he's increased his rate of shooting. There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest CJ will start playing actual good basketball anytime soon.

Trade his ***.

And if we can get AK at a decent price tag, we SHOULD resign him too. Again, the same as with CJ, he knows our system; plus he can be a contributor at both SF and PF. A good passer and defender against taller SG and SF's. I'd limit his minutes to reduce the injury bug, but with our potentially deep roster, we shouldn't need him to play major minutes. Our bench was pathetic last year; having guys who can play multiple positions is very important on the defensive end!
