What's new

Jimmy Buckets gonna get MAX. Tobias Utah Bound?

The jazz getting Tobias is like getting Steph, KD, kahwi. I mean he is the pinnacle of what we can hope for.

He should come here. He will win, he will be featured, he will be beloved. He would be the biggest free agent signing for the jazz ever. Historical

Biggest free agent signing ever? Are we sure about this?

Boozer and Money Memo in the summer of 2004 was pretty awesome. Those two guys plus Deron a few years later gave us some of the most entertaining ball in the post S2M era. Especially those 2007 playoffs where we took out Tmac and made clutchfans meltdown, took down the warriors, and got pummeled by the Spurs.

Hell, didn’t we make some decent deals in 2007 too? How’d Fisher Lied get here? And Paperboy as a rookie? Hells yeah.

Cmon, this was awesome

Tobias harris is better than boozer
Tobias harris is better than memo.
I am a big fan of boozer and memo and that team.

Harris would be the biggest free agent signing ever for the jazz.

Especially if you look at how coveted these players are/were. Lots of teams are lining up to give Harris a max contract. memo was a back up that barely played when the jazz signed him. Boozer was a good young prospect but nothing special at the time.

Retirement?

Actually, it often signals a rapid downward spiral for many men. A life time of drive and purpose to suddenly being cast adrift.

I work in the retirement business. And if y’all want some advice here it is. Find hobbies, friends and regular activities prior to retirement. Something to pursue and drive towards.

Personally I’m going over seas for a massive bender till my organs give out. Fire my corpse and let the wind blow my ashes away.

I don’t understand giving max deals to non-All Stars or non-All NBA guys. Tobias would be great in a Jazz Uni but he should not get a max deal and will never live up to it.

When you’re not an “it” destination you have to try harder.

You should have finished your post at “I don’t understand”

He is totally worth a max and in our system would completely live up to it

Can we please stop putting “max” in all caps for the love of sweet fancy Moses?

I propose we just use the logo:

Tobias harris is better than boozer

Come on Fish, I know you don't actually believe this. Hyperbole aside, Boozer was an All-NBA third team player in '08. Hell, he was tied with KG for 9th in MVP voting the season before. He was also voted by coaches as a reserve to 2 ASGs. A cursory look at advanced stats shows prime Boozer easily besting Harris in win-shares, box plus-minus, and value-over-replacement player. Boozer's advanced numbers in the 2007 playoffs aren't just indicative of a top-15 player, they're top-5 player kind of numbers. He was actually 5th in win shares in the playoffs that year. Behind LeBron, Duncan, Manu, and Chauncey.

Harris is a good player and at not-quite 27, he may turn out to be a really good player yet. But right now, he's no Boozer. Impact-wise or in any other way.

I was talking about when we aquired boozer. He was a nobody.
Tobias harris is highly sought after. Lots of teams want to give him the max and would consider themselves lucky.

How many people would have given Cleveland boozer the max? How many teams were desperately seeking his services?

If we maxed out tobias, could we trade favors and exum for Conley? My understanding is yes but I am no capologist given the new rules.

Tobias Harris would definitely help us achieve that next level of success. Yes, the Jazz need to go after Harris. He will definitely add win shares to our developing team and has the ceiling to get better and better given his young age. He makes perfect sense for the Jazz system. (It took me some time to see it, but I bought in).
@fishonjazz, I respect you and all, but you have got to remember that Boozer wasn't a nobody when the Jazz got him. He was very well known and was expected to go as a lottery pick, or close to, during his draft year. He slipped in the draft and it was well known after his first year that Cleveland got a great pick. When the Jazz got him, there were several teams after him for a max signing including Denver, Charlotte, Atlanta and others. But I do think Tobias offers a different skillset in today's game that is more desirable based on today's style of play. Boozer was strong in a time that I felt the NBA product was watered down.
