You like to talk about nuanced conversations, but are trying to keep things as simple as possible here.
I never said Trump's racism is ok. I detest it. I think he's an awful human being. I am not defending him here. That doesn't mean we can't talk about the faults of everybody involved here! We should be able to discuss these things without falling into a "whataboutism". I should be able to raise these thoughts without getting accused of defending Trump, which is essentially what you are doing here.
What I am saying is that the Democrats have played long and hard with identity politics, calling the last candidates since, idk, Bush 1, racist in some way. Hell, it's happening with "the squad" saying Pelosi is racist! The Democrats go to far with calling people racist, and the Republicans go to far with explaining away potential racist problems, and they're both connected! If we can't talk about this now, when the hell will we ever get to? Yes, Trump is awful and we need to discuss that, but that doesn't mean we can't discuss the faults of other people in addition, including those who do not like him.
