2020 Presidential election

I don't think there are many "dems" at all that want Hillary anywhere near this race.

I don't think she was ever really loved as a candidate, but she was seen (with A LOT of help from the DNC) as the easy front-runner and potential first woman POTUS as a nice little bonus.

I think if the DNC had just let the chips fall where they may Bernie would have won the primary and gone on to easily beat Trump.

People were not upset because Hillary lost, they were upset because a disgusting, low-intelligence, egotistical, self-proclaimed ***** grabber, incompetent blow-hard jackass had just been elected.

well .... well.... I can see your view just about to the last line.

I wasn't set to think we'd ever have politicians who could teach Sunday School.

I did notice how fast Hillary was taken off the stage, and I thought it was because she was being a vitriolic old bitter hag. But then there was this whole DumpTrump thing that sounded just like that, too.

Look, I've known of some billionaire perps pretty close up. And now that I know a little about Epstein I might have to update my information. But I've known a lot of alpha sorts of men who run companies successfully. I'd say a lot of them might be called out as pervs by the local church lady. I'm sorta used to the notion that wealthy people do stuff, like in Vegas. "What happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas". I imagine there are other places with even more to hide, where the honchos do their bit.

Did you start typing with the intent of responding to my post or did you quote me by accident?

I've been editing whatever.

Some years ago I worked for a billionaire who probably knew Epstein and had him handle some investments. Another billionaire who got married and turned his life around and became a family man. Almost as dramatic as it looks to me like Trump probably did.

The health care argument is so stupid. We all pay for it now so if course we will all pay for it. Only with health care reform we won't exclude poor people because they can't afford it and won't bankrupt middle class people because they can't afford it while rich people get all the private doctors they want. Our health care system is so broken we pay more than any other developed nation for sub-standard care that isn't accessible to huge chunks of the population. It's ridiculous.

My son needs medication to control epilepsy. In Germany that medicine cost us 20 euros per month out of pocket. Here it's $300. He can't afford that. I can't afford to buy it for him, although I do. There is so much wrong with this picture it just isn't funny any more.

Oh no!

Biden! A decent human being who’s a pretty decent politician! So scary! What would we ever do?

He’s not my first choice. But let’s not act like his opponent is FDR or Lincoln.

1. Is Biden a terrible human waste garbage dump, like trump?

2. Does Biden encourage foreign government to intervene in our elections on his behalf?

3. Will Biden spend all his time trash talking on twitter instead of managing the executive?

Those are my standards, that’s how low they’ve become. He’s definitely qualified.

I personally agree with warren far more on politics. I still think she’ll get the nomination. However, I hope Democrats understand that absolutely nothing she or Sanders are proposing will happen as long as McConnell is the Senate majority leader and the filibuster is still intact.

If Biden is the nominee and you want to get rid of trump then he’s your best chance. Biden will be at worst, a decent and unremarkable one term president. At least he’ll rid us of agent orange and we can finally begin to rebuild the federal government. The last two republican presidents were trump and Bush II. Does anyone honestly think Biden will suck nearly as much as they?
The party of extremely low standards... Wow.

It is amazing how so many people in this country, with a straight face, try to pretend the rest of the world doesn't exist.

“Why should I care about other places, we have everything we need right here in the US”.

I’ve actually heard people say this..

Yesterday, Breitbart had an hour or more program on Maryann Williamson, as they are going down the list discussing all the dem candidates. The guest expert was a guy from Eagle Forum. Someone wo knows for sure. While noting that she raised her hand for freebies for illegals and such, at citizen/taxpayer expense, they nevertheless noted some positive things.

I never knew word one until then.... they said she wrote a book "Return to Love" and has been an Oprah frequent guest, is touted as something of New Age guru, who has run a charity for Aids patients for twenty plus years. serving like a million meals to housebound or quarantined folks.

They said she has literally her own lane in the race, with no competition, and a pretty sure 15% who would view her positively. Bound to survive the next two debates until the field is narrowed to six or so, and that she'll be pushing 10% then. A lot of people everywhere are willing to turn out for her.

They said she could be the Dem Trump..... the contender who wows the ordinary folks by being well-behaved..... uhhhmmm..... never mind. But at least the one who speaks the lingo of the ordinary folks.

Some conservative fill-ins on XM125 have brought in quotes to make jokes about.....much like major media made jokes about Trump.
The problem with Williamson is that more Republicans are excited about her and want her to do well than Democrats. She has yet to exceed one percent in any of the qualifying polls for the next debate in September. She needs to hit 2 percent in four qualifying polls in just the next two weeks to make the debate. Extremely doubtful this happens. So far, not many Democrats anywhere have been willing to turn out for her. Democrats tend to support candidates they think have the best chance of beating Trump. Republicans get excited about fringe Democrats that really have no shot against Trump because it’s fun to try to splinter Democrats and prevent, for as long as possible, the Party from coalescing around one strong candidate.

You are correct that reform must happen. Before Obamacare, I had excellent insurance through my employer. Now I pay monthly for a $7500 high deductible plan that I cannot even use. The problem with your Germany example though is that you spend nearly half the year working for the government. The top tax rate of 42% applies to taxable income above €55,961. Finally, for taxable income above €265,327, a 45% tax is applicable.

I'll take insurance the way it used to be (not that long ago) over the government running it into the ground any day!!

Can you show me evidence of Germany, or say Sweden or Norway or most other developed Nations "running it into the ground"? That was not my experience. It wasn't perfect, and of course people still complained, but it was a damn site better than here, and regardless of the tax rate (full disclosure, I paid the max tax rate), our standard of living was better than it is here, in my subjective opinion.

Raise your hand if you wish there were a candidate that represented the obvious left and obvious right rhetoric?

@Harambe **** that guy. Leftist ideology is porn to him. Especially if he thinks I think I'm always right.

Well first there has to be wide spread reform in general. It is already very common knowledge that we subsidize the rest of the world for pharmaceutical costs. Germany and other countries control the costs allowed by law, we don't so we get meds at hundreds and thousands times markup over cost. If we don't reign in costs then yes, we would all have to pay exorbitant amounts for health care. But guess what? We already do. My insurance this year, if we meet our deductible, will cost me $14,264. That includes the premium, the premiums for vision and dental, and the deductible for health Care. It doesn't include the deductible and limits in dental and vision. This year I have already paid about $1500 in dental beyond my limits for my family, and we are about half way through our deductible for medical. So for me $7k to $9k is a bargain. You need to be intellectually honest and compare to the costs people actually pay now. You make it sound like $9k is a lot. It's not. Many pay more than that now, and many others simply don't and don't have coverage. How is that better again?

That is less than what my wife and I pay in premiums. I still have a deductible and co-pay. So what that tells me is that I would SAVE money and every person in this country would have health care.

Sign me up!
Sounds good to me too. I pay an equivalent amount of money for my salary per year just in premiums, and I have a plan through my employer who I'm sure is footing most of the bill.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

Single payer systems have all proven to cut costs and improve health care outcomes.

Not every single payer system is government owned. France, Germany, Switzerland, and japan all use a single payer system model where government regulates costs and insurance companies are nonprofit.

The UK uses a single payer system where doctors and hospitals are all socialized.

Canada uses a single payer system where doctors and hospitals remain private but all receive compensation from one government funded insurance plan, Medicare.

If the United States were to move to any of these, they’d see costs drop and health outcomes increase.

Republicans try and scare people away from the Medicare for all plan by bringing up how much it’ll cost. Often, they throw around exaggerated numbers. They never talk about how much our current system will end up costing. Why? Because even with their exaggerated numbers, the costs of Medicare for all are smaller than leaving our system alone, status quo.

The United States has the worst health care system of the industrialized world. We pay the most, don’t cover everybody, and our outcomes suck.
