Are there any past Jazz player's number would the organization retire?

I think there are some candidates but questionable if any are sure fire. Numbered but not meant to be a measure as who is better than in each catagory. My guess is Favors is the frontrunner of this list though I feel it should be Williams.

This is my list of who I think should -
1. Williams
2. Kirilenko
3. Favors
4. Russell
Who is possible but unlikely -
1. Harpring
2. Millsap
3. Hayward
4. Korver

Who would you add or subtract?

Honestly, no one on that list deserves to have their number retired I might consider Sap, but even then I’m not sure. First and for most!! WTF would you have that bitch Williams on the list, you idiot. That’s utterly disrespectful to who Jerry Sloan is.

I love Favors, and his loyalty to this team... ya know, I’d consider retiring his # actually, and not for his accomplishments on the court but for being a jazz man through and through. He’s the very essence of what it means to be loyal and sacrifice for the team, so honestly I’d retire his number, but not till his career is over.

Hayward, lol why you even list him is beyond me.

Russell and Korver were good role players, nothing beyond that, but neither of them did anything memorable to deserve that honor. Harping was more than a role player, but there was nothing special about him or what he did on or off the court. The only player that really deserves to have his jersey retired on this list for what he did on the court is Williams, but he never will for what he did off the court.

Kirilenko. The thing I remember most is the crying and traveling plans before the season was over. Had he had Favors attitude, he would’ve been a shoe-in because he was unique and had tons of ability, but he didn’t work at all after being paid.

The one person who deserves it, who for some reason you left off is Memo. All-Star, great shooter and did a lot to help lift the jazz, and you leave him off? Idiot!!!!
 
Williams and Kirilenko both deserve it. Yeah, Williams was a douche and kirilenko cried, but they were key components to the last western conference trip the jazz had, the most team success we’ve had since then. Don’t forget the season they were projected to win 9 games and almost made the playoffs on AK’s insane performance.

Williams has made amends just like Dantley did. For a couple years the discussion of the best PG in the league between Deron and Chris Paul was valid.
And Kirilenko has and had close ties to the community.

Statistically they both surpassed Jeff Hornacek with the Jazz and his number is hanging. Other than personal bias against them there’s not much of an argument against retiring their numbers. PR wise, which is part of retiring numbers, both would be a good move. Think of the headlines of the Jazz and Williams publically burying the hatchet. It’s a no brainer.

Honestly after Sloan is gone they should retire Williams. They respect Sloan and did the right thing to trade Williams away when they did. You cannot expect everyone to always get along and while Williams was here he was for a time the best PG in the NBA.

Andre Kirilenko
Sloan did not get along with many of his players and did not always get the most out of them Kirlinko is a good example of this. When he played PF before Boozer was brought he was amazing. If he would have been on a team that ran the ball he could have been an all star every year. That we used him incorrectly and didn't ever trade him for a player that fit Sloan's system was ridiculous.

Favors was never the focus of the team though in hindsight if he had been instead of Hayward I think it would have worked out better. He is one of my favorite players and was key to the Jazz in transitioning to where we are now.

Russell spent the better part of his career here and was a big part of the Jazz teams that went to the post season year after year as well as being another great ambassor for the team.

Memo had a good run and was an all star he should be considered. I didn't realize he was with the team as long as he was.

Millsap is someone I would consider but I feel like the Jazz just letting him leave and chosing Favors over him makes it ring untrue.

I would say no the last 3 as well.

I don't think they'll retire those jerseys. DWill might've been close as an All Star and Team USA guy, but his falling out with the team probably takes that off the table.
 
TBD - Williams. If he became involved with the organization somehow going forward in a way the built up the good will I would support it. (maybe some Jr. Jazz events, or some sort of mentor/ambassador role)
No - Everyone else on the list
Others to consider:
Boozer (6 years, 2 All-star, 1 or 2 time Olympics). I vote no, but it is closer than any other player
Ron Boone. I could see this happening. Has been very important for basketball in Utah and involved with the Jazz for many, many years.
David Locke. When all is said and done, I expect he will get something retired (assuming he stays with the team for the next 30 years)
Rudy. If he has similar impact as last year (All-star or all-NBA or DPOY) then he is a yes. Even if he never plays again.
 
None. Deron had several great seasons. AK had a dominant stretch for 4 yrs or so. But neither were legends. Personally, i dont think Hornacek deserved to have his number retired, but he was at least borderline with his attitude and longevity putting him over the top.

Jazz won't have anyone worthy until Gobert. I'd include Donovan but apparently he's going to pull a Deron and leave for New York.
 
Would we get more responses if we asked who to nominate if the Jazz were to engrave former players names on the toilets and urinals?
 
I think Gobert cried for all of the unfortunate opponents that would now be annihilated in response to his second straight undeserved All-Star snub. It's kind of a preliminary way of mourning people that are, in his mind at least, already dead.
