The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

Just curious, what do y’all think the reaction from republicans would’ve been if Eric Holder had been meeting with news media CEOs? While hopping from continent to continent allegedly working to dig up dirt on Obama’s political opponents?

These guys definitely look like legitimate businessmen

This is some interesting reporting:

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2019/10/rudy-giuliani-vienna/599833/

Along with allegedly using a shell company to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to Republican candidates and a pro-Trump super PAC, Parnas and Fruman were also accused by federal prosectors of meddling in American political activities on behalf of one or more Ukrainian officials. In the 21-page indictment, prosecutors allege that Parnas and Fruman lobbied for the removal of the U.S. ambassador in Kiev, Marie Yovanovitch—something Giuliani sought as well, arguing that she was biased against the president. In May, Trump ordered Yovanovitch’s removal.

Rudy just got the kiss of death. Trump’s already distancing himself from him. By tomorrow morning he’s going to deny even knowing him.

It's weird that JazzyFresh and the rest of the Trump gang are refraining from commenting on today's developments.

I guess the talking points haven't come through yet

You know, I don’t believe your pretense. Traitor has been inexorably linked to treason since Benedict Arnold. That’s the common usage.

dude please be serious. You can be a traitor to your church, a traitor to your cause, a traitor to your team, a traitor to your family, a traitor to your friends, a traitor to your spouse, a traitor to your school, a traitor to your company. The list goes on and on. I bet there is more usage of “traitor” to professional sports teams than traitors to countries (treason).

“Inexorably linked” — come on. The notion that traitor is commonly just treason to your country is patently untrue. Trump is a mutidimensional traitor: his family, his spouse, humanity, his colleagues who he throws under the bus, his party, and yes, his country.

I wasn’t comparing everyone who calls someone a traitor to Trump. I was comparing you, and your usage in this thread, to Trump. Not only do you use the word in the same manner as Trump, as a deliberately false rhetorical bludgeon.

It is very curious that you don’t believe that I think trump is a traitor. Let me assure you that I do.

I'll own my own words, but I do think you were overanalyzing my original response to @silesian, where I called his short comment "succinct" and I laughed. Obviously, your objection was to me basically giving a thumbs up to a comment that included the observation that Trump supporters were traitors.

But, in actuality, at the time, I bout near fell out of my chair laughing at "this is the WTF age in American history". I just found that, in particular, spot on, in its own way. So, there was a misunderstanding here, but I'll acknowledge I compounded that by continuing to use the term "traitor". It really wasn't worth all the back and forth that resulted, but in my comment prior to this one, I stated my position, hopefully in clearer terms.

@JazzyFresh is that closet trump supporter that has a closet, but says he doesn't have one. He can see everyone, everyone can see him, and there's not a door... but the second he gets pinned down, it's very clear there's only one egress available. And it's not the one he imagined going in.

You said it, Your Honor:

“Disputes between Congress and the president are a recurring plot in our national story,” U.S. Circuit Judge David Tatel wrote in the majority’s 66-page opinion. “And that is precisely what the Framers intended.” He quoted the late Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, who said that the purpose of the separation of powers was “to save the people from autocracy.”
