Stupid Pet Peeves

Sounds very miserable. Good luck and at least the Jazz won. :)

Its actually rather pleasant outside at the moment, mid to low twenties, excellent weather for a beer. Women are getting about in summer dresses and poor me stuck at work for another 6 hours. Boo.

You realize that most people here exclusively use the Fahrenheit scale and would interpret that as quite a chilly temperature? You're lucky I'm a scientist. :)
Since the Fahrenheit scale was made based on outside temp I've always felt it was better for use when describing the weather. Otherwise I'm cool with Celsius and the metric system.

Get home from work just finished my 10th shift in 11 days, feeling pretty knackered but happy to have the next four days off. Walk into the kitchen and my folks, who are both severely disabled tell me about how instead of getting a cab home they got a lift with a complete stranger who was hanging out by the taxi rank and offered them a free lift.

I could have ****ing killed them both on the spot. Ive just had to take a month off work to look after them cause they're both so unwell but **** it why not just roll the dice with some strange dickhead? Mum said dad would look after her, (he cant ****ing dress himself) i swear they are trying to give me a stroke or something.

Wow! I would be so upset. My mother is 82, and I'm surprised at how her thinking has changed in so many ways. She doesn't always make the safest choices either, but will go with the cheapest and easiest.

That as I just go about my normal life doing the regular shopping that I do all year long for the next month I will have a much harder time parking, will have to deal with a lot more people being in the way while I shop and will stand in much longer checkout lines.

And I live close to a large shopping center, so I sometimes have a traffic jam to deal with just to get out of my neighborhood.

Online shopping.

Archie, I try to find things to post in this thread. Very few of the things I post cause me any real irritation. This is my favorite thread on jazzfanz and I try to find ways to keep it active.

I'm pretty sure you've posted that "this is water" video before and I think it might have been a response to one of my posts in this thread. I don't 100% get what you're trying to say, but I think I kind of get it. Either way, I post in this thread because I like this thread and want other people to post in this thread.

Not trying to be annoying. I like this thread too. Your post just reminded me of that video. I find myself saying, this is water a lot around this time of year. I hate masses of people.

When the place I’m working for the day is supposed to open at 8:00 and at 8:55 the first person rolls in. And yes, they knew I was coming today

South Jordan City’s building department is an absolute joke. I’m doing an office buildout there. The building is existing and new (within a year or two), but this space has never had a tenant. It took the General Contractor over two months to get the permit issued. Most cities will let you schedule either AM or PM and then call and talk to inspector that morning to get a time estimate to expect them. Not South Jordan City. They will let you select a day to inspect, but no AM/PM choice. They absolutely will not let anybody talk to the inspectors to get a time estimate. That means someone has to sit and wait for an inspector to randomly show up.

The SLC air quality/inversion.
Yesterday might have been the worst I have ever seen. Disgusting. By far the worst thing about living here.

It's bad now but I remember 3 or 4 years ago when it didn't snow for like 2 months I literally forgot we had mountains around us. I could barely se the other office building across the parking lot. I was surprised at how bad it was this morning though, especially for having a storm just a few days ago.

Ya yesterday I was driving home and I could barely see the top of the east mountains (big and little cottonwood) and couldn't see any of the West mountains or any mountains to the South or north.
And I was planning on taking my dog for a walk but when I saw that on my drive home I was like **** that, I'm not walking outside in this ****

Agreed. Yesterday I drove to St George and was shocked to see how far past Provo/Orem I had to go before the air quality improved.

The thing that REALLY annoys me about this is that ~3 years ago I went to the "Utah Energy Conference" in SLC, and attended a talk about air quality, electric vehicles, etc. It was by someone who works for the state, I forget the specific office. The point he INTENDED to make was, "We are ramping up our support for electric vehicles, and are starting to impose penalties on older trucks which put out a huge amount of pollution, and are starting to support cleaner electrical power plants, and in about 10-20 years the air quality should be much better." But the message that I took away was, "If we really wanted to, we could significantly improve the air quality this year or next, but we don't really want to, so you're going to be stuck with all these particulates in the air for another 10-20 years. Have fun with that."
