Video verified by The New York Times appears to show an Iranian missile hitting a plane above Parand, near Tehran’s airport, the area where a Ukrainian airliner stopped transmitting its signal before it crashed on Wednesday.

A small explosion occurred when a missile hit the plane, but the plane did not explode, the video showed. The jet continued flying for several minutes and turned back toward the airport, The Times has determined. The plane flew toward the airport ablaze before it exploded and crashed quickly, other videos verified by The Times showed.

How Pompeo convinced Trump to kill Soleimani.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/09/politics/pompeo-trump-iran-soleimani/index.html

Long known as a "Trump whisperer" for the relationship he's cultivated with the President, Pompeo's ability to sell such an aggressive Iran strategy to Trump -- a conflict-averse President -- is testament to his unparalleled sway.

Now, with Pompeo's recent declaration that he will not run for a US Senate seat in Kansas, the former three-term House lawmaker and CIA director appears set to continue wielding his influence in the Trump administration.

"He's the one leading the way," according to the source in Pompeo's inner circle, discussing the face off with Iran. "It's the President's policy, but Pompeo has been the leading voice in helping the President craft this policy. There is no doubt Mike is the one leading it in the Cabinet."

One former Republican national security official, who is a Trump critic but supported the strike on Soleimani, told CNN that Pompeo is so influential, he is like the "secretary of state, secretary of defense and director of the CIA" combined.

Now that we know Pompeo, and Pence, pushed for the killing of Soleimani, it may not be inappropriate to keep in mind to what degree their personal beliefs may, or may not, impact our Middle East foreign policy. I've been concerned with this for years, long before Trump and company entered our historical stream. Not my intention to upset anybody's religious sensibilities, I'm simply not of an evengelical Christian or Christian Zionism mind set. I see how essentially insane the Islamicists are, and not for one second do I think Westerners are immune from irrational belief systems as well. Rationality does not seem to be humanity's strong point at times. To say the least.

https://washingtonmonthly.com/2020/...s-foreign-policy-with-the-christian-zionists/

"According to the Washington Post, it was Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who talkedTrump into the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, with an assist from Vice President Mike Pence. They report that Pompeo first proposed the idea months ago, which is at odds with the administration’s claim that the strike was based on intelligence about an “imminent threat.”
While the authors of that piece chronicle the fact that the secretary of state has been obsessed with Iran throughout his career in Congress, the CIA, and now at the State Department, they failed to address the question of what motivates his interest.

As Kathryn Joyce pointed out last March, “even amid an administration stacked with evangelical staffers and advisors, Pompeo stands out.” At about that time, the secretary of state was in Jerusalem and sat down for an interview with reporters from the Christian Broadcast Network.

Chris Mitchell asked Pompeo, “could it be that President Trump right now has been sort of raised for such a time as this, just like Queen Esther, to help save the Jewish people from the Iranian menace?”…

“As a Christian, I certainly believe that’s possible,” Pompeo said...."

"......What we are witnessing is a secretary of state who is conducting U.S. foreign policy in alignment with Christian Zionism, with the support of the vice president. While neoconservatives like John Bolton have their own twisted logic for wanting regime change in Iran, it is the belief that events in the Middle East align with Biblical prophecy about the end times that motivates Christian Zionists like Pompeo, Pence, and Hagee.

As I noted when the same crowd celebrated Trump’s decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, rising tensions in the Middle East are a feature, not a bug, for these folks. That’s because all of this was prophesied thousands of years ago as a prelude to the rapture. In other words, they welcome the escalation."

Good thing we took out this terrorist first.

No reason to think anyone in this administration is lying, is there?

Even when the truth will suffice Trump lies.

"A pathological liar is someone who lies compulsively. While there appears to be many possible causes for pathological lying, it’s not yet entirely understood why someone would lie this way.

Some lies seem to be told in order to make the pathological liar appear the hero, or to gain acceptance or sympathy, while there’s seemingly nothing to be gained from other lies.

Along with being made the hero or victim in their stories, pathological liars tend to tell lies that seem to be geared at gaining admiration, sympathy, or acceptance by others.

The following are some signs that may help you identify a pathological liar:

  • they often talk about experiences and accomplishments in which they appear heroic
  • they’re also the victim in many of their stories, often looking for sympathy
  • their stories tend to be elaborate and very detailed
  • they respond elaborately and quickly to questions, but the responses are usually vague and don’t provide an answer to the question
  • they may have different versions of the same story, which stems from forgetting previous details"

Trump did the right thing. HE MUST BE LYING!!!!! You guys are very predictable.

I’m gonna lol at this. Did you read the quote from the kid in the OP? This is Trump’s base. Morans like this who would nuke the entire Middle East if they could and light a cigar while they’re pressing the button. So long as no blacks were around. That would ruin the experience for them.

So, imo, they’ll point to this as a kickass moment in his Presidency. They’ll point to the economy. And God knows what else. Cause ‘Murica: The land of the free, home of the dumb as ****.

Aren't you Canadian?

I get a bit tired of speculation in this site about Trump and his "base". It comes off as an alt reality show. Most of my actual time nowadays is in California, though I have decided against going into San Francisco, well, anywhere north of the airport..... and a few other areas.

Anyone actually seeing the homeless camps on the sidewalks, along the creeks/rivers and highways? And some of these people have jobs, too.

The first Trump enthusiast I ever knew was a medical specialist (endocrinologist) in McAllen Tx who was just appalled at the inhumanity of the gangs trafficking humans across the border, who did not miss the point that it was guns run into Mexico by lying Obama/Holder right into the hands of gangs….. firing up the violence in Mexico.

Then, there are those actually thinking folks who noticed Obama and his buds flying billions of dollars including 1.3 Billion in cold hard cash to the Iranians for stimulating worldwide terrorism. I mean, skirting the "law" every way they can. Thirteen transfers of 99,999,999.99 to evade a disclosure notice required at 100M, all on the same day.

Anyone who thinks Obama is stupid, or Holder, or Hillary, and that they are doing harmless "little" mistakes against American interests or against actual democracy worldwide, or against American constitutional republic principles is either mesmerized by "THE NEWS", or not paying attention at all.... or, for the few dedicated Resistance revolutionaries, true believers in leveling the world stage politically. who love the fact that things are devolving into a kind of "unreasoned chaos" designed to break down institutions much in the way Marx envisioned for achieving his "inexorable" march towards his "Imagine" world view. You know, like the song "Imagine".

Of course, people who sing songs like that still keep their money in the banks, and don't mind having a lot of it. And the people who especially love social and institutional disintegration are the George Soros sort who know how to profit immensely from it. Or slave-labor addicts like the Koch brothers.

The corruption in our government, in both politicians and government employees, has finally awakened enough people to become the focus of a revolt against "The Lifers", those who make a life of their government perks. The Pervs. That's what they are. The Clintons, the Bushes, the Bidens, the Obamas. and scores of others like Harry Reid was, and Pelosi.

Our politics has been, for so long, dominated on both R and D sides, by players willing to personally benefit from their government offices and jobs, it is truly alarming to them that there really are enough people of all sorts could dislike what they(Establishment players) are doing enough to elect a candidate who isn't "owned" by the "in crowd".

Which is, in a word, is an "independent" man. An American man.

I think we have a critical mass of Americans, even in California, that would vote majority for Trump if we could get an honest vote count.

Citizens. Residents. Casting their own ballots.

Lots of people are sick of the tired old cliché manipulators like our lovely little "Daily Talking Points" gang in here.

What is being said by radio pundits like Wilkow, is that "The Left", is trying to mobilize their anti-war base.

We just don't have any buildings painted with Trump's commanding figure, no "base" chanting war cries. Well, except for those Soros has paid to act the part. Nobody is making Trump out as larger than life, or wanting to build islands in the seas to stake new territorial claims..... ha ha. We might buy Greenland, right???? They'd probably vote to become a territory if they were given the choice. Maybe the Philippines, too.

American constitutional republic ideas are gaining audiences in Korea, in Japan, in Hong Kong, in Taiwan. Been there for a while in the Philippines. The ideas of humans having governments that are responsive and accountable to the people is going to be the wave of the future.

The old "progressive" ideas or manipulating humans into world wars, of micromanaging the world with a focus to enhance cartel/monopoly stakes enforced by government is going into the dumpster.

Well, anyway, that is what the progressive top level management fears.
