Conley irrelevant...

My only concern on Mike is I don't think he will be better than Ingles and DM have been as pick and roll ball handlers. DM is the closer. Mike has offball value and creators are definitely welcome... but if he takes away a significant amount of possessions from DM and Ingles then its a problem.

I also think those that keep saying he's 21/6 and he's just integrating into the system are ignoring that he's been bad... history tells us he should improve, but his TS% was lower than DM, Ingles, JC, Mudiay. So he needs to pick it up and I'm curious how much of a backseat he takes. He's a defensive downgrade from Royce, but if he can be really efficient in a reduced role and help others to be a little more effective then it works.

all this.

Everyone would be crowing loudly if we had a bench of Conley, Baynes, and Clarkson.

Being concerned with how Conley fits with the rest of the starters is absolutely legitimate.

The Mike Conley can't come off the bench narrative is what bothers me a bit... why not? It might not work or be ideal, but championship teams have had elite guys come off the bench for the betterment of the team... He doesn't seem like the type to say no... are we scared to ask?

If Mike went to Quin and was like "use me how you need to... starter, off the bench, whatever you need!" He'd further the narrative of him being a huge team player... he might be more effective... and it may set up the next contract he gets (he ain't getting the $30M anymore... can he get $10M for a couple years if he shows he can be effective in a new role?).

Everyone is stoked on the Raptors-model. Go ahead and look at who came off the bench and how cool they were to switch that **** up depending on matchups.

Warriors with Iggy... Spurs with Manu... Hell the clips with Lou Will/Harrell... both better than Zubac and Beverly.

The biggest reason I liked the Conley trade was that it meant Rubio wouldn’t be back.

I’ve always thought the move to make was to have Mitchell be the 1. I’ll talk myself into liking the Conley move if it begins to look good on its own merits which to this point it hasn’t. In the meantime, I’ll try to bite my tongue.
Sums it up nicely

Who would Iggy play over? Manu is clearly an exception. Lou Will literally had a talk with Doc saying he doesn't want to defend starting guards and Harrells numbers took a dip when he played as starter last year. They have the best assist combo. Why break them up or have them for empty possessions with PG and Kawhi? They never were really clear cut starters anywhere, anyway.

You’re right playing below .500 teams results speak for themselves lol.

Come on guys. I think there’s an argument you could better use the salary he’s taking up but he will be very needed in the coming month of February and postseason.
Not just salary but also the draft picks and players involved in the trade we did to get him.

Iggy was better than Bogut or whoever they played at center and Barnes.

The thought behind the Lou Will thing is exactly in line with the Conley off the bench thinking... Ingles and Rudy have a deadly PnR combo... why break that up... Conley creates defensive issues with starting lineups we will face (who guards PG and Kawhi).

Against the clips how do you matchup with PG and Kawhi in the starting lineup...

Lakers will be a problem but you can hide Mike. They create some issues with the SF/PF/C matchups.

Denver- does he guard Murray, Barton or Harris? all are bigger than him.

Houston - Does Ingles or DM take Harden? Conley guards Westbrook or Gordon?

Dallas works if you can hide him on Dorian Finney smith.

Meh, Crowder brings alot of energy off the bench and is good defender who can guard 3s and 4s and play 3 and 4 on offense but most importantly he doesnt cost 32 mil a year.

I can't believe anyone who watches this team would want Crowder back. Him moving on had to happen regardless of other changes.

You hope Royce can do relatively well on Kawhi and Ingles can get in George’s head again.

I don’t see any way we are getting some of the more talked about players via a trade because we simply don’t have the assets. I’m curious if we could swing Davis for Markieff, though I’m not sure the latter’s reputation as a defender. Maybe he blows compared to Marcus in that regard.

He was solid last year. Worlds better on defense than Niang and Green. He shot lower percentages, but was a low turnover guy and actually got to the line a fair amount for a spot up guy so he was basically right at league average for TS%. I think he'd be an upgrade over Niang and Green. His role was too big last year but he was fine and has trade value.

There’s a lot of parallels that can be drawn between Boston/Hayward and Conley/Utah. Conley ought to be able to figure **** out. He has been around long enough and he’s overpaid enough to understand how things work. He’s gotta realize that with his contract he’s going to feel pressure and he needs to be effective. If he really is a great player he’s gotta be more than just a scorer. If he isn’t hitting his shots he’s got to become effective in some other way to help his team win games. He can’t be finding his shot every game. If he’s not hitting in 2-3 tries he needs to find other ways to be effective. The Jazz offense has plenty of scorers now, Conley doesn’t have the luxury of shooting himself into a rhythm every game. He’s gotta find other ways to be effective, he’s gotta give it his all on defense, he’s gotta be a playmaker, he’s gotta facilitate, he’s gotta push the ball, etc..

How do you start Conley, Royce, and Joe? I'm saying to start the game is DM or guarding one or Bojan?

No interest in Markieff… he's washed.
