Stars Off the Schneid

I'm wondering if the front office is comparing them to Naz and Cavanaugh from last year and cavalierly saying "Nah you ain't prospects?".
I think the plan was for them to spend the year in the g league and be emergency only options. I think our rotation has gotten rough and these guys have done well and should be given a shot. Brantley and Morgan aren’t going to be allowed to play the same way they are in the g league. We need to see if they work or have potential to work inside a much smaller role. I think sometimes too much g league isn’t great for development.

I played in a couple different men’s leagues with wildly different levels of competition... in one league I was one of the best players and was leading scorer on my team... in the other I was the fifth starter and primarily a spot up shooter, ball mover... it was a tough adjustment at times.

Honestly... @infection knows what will happen with these guys... we won’t play them at all this year because they “aren’t ready”. We then go into free agency and don’t upgrade because we don’t want to block their development... then we will end up being forced to play them without knowing they can perform.

I don’t think we are contenders... I think the tone of this season should change a bit... be good but try some stuff to find what works. Get some data for next year while we either lose in the first round or get a favorable matchup then lose in the second round.

Krysko the UofUtah coach was a GLeague coach and said the toughest thing for GLeague players to realize is that the NBA team isn't going to run a play for them despite their star status at the lower level. They have to set picks, play D and rebound to stick around.

Stars win in OT after missing three free throws in the last 20 seconds. Brantley was a beast with 28 points 13 boards and 8 assists. Brantley lead the Stars in every category and he, JWF and Rayjohn Tucker were named GLeague all-stars. Bluiett had 23 points and JWF hit a big shot in OT. Pryor and Haas had 11 rebounds and were both +11 in the box score. Former lottery selection Cameron Payne had a big scoring game for Texas. NWG out with a "leg contusion," Willie Reed with the groin and Collinsworth still sick.

Damn, Cam Payne in the G League now? I remember after we drafted Lyles, fans of other teams said we were dumb for not taking Payne because we needed a point guard lol.

How's his defense and rebounding?

Worst defensive rating on team among regular players. Wouldn't trust this stat totally. But all of us expecting him to be able to come in and provide solid defense immediately are over-optimistic, I think. He may be built a lot like PJ Tucker, but there's no way his defense is anywhere close to Tucker's level.

He's young. He has some tools. It will not be prime level, but he can get there. His offense is great. He can provide a punch and SPACE the floor.

It looks to me like he could use this summer to get in better shape and lose some baby fat. That will help some of the defensive stuff.
