I was reading the wiki page for Jefferson Davis after reading about the statue being taken down and comments about him. But this quote made me laugh:

As a result, many deserted and in the latter part of the war, underage boys were fighting in their place. Meanwhile by 1863, the Union Army was being reinforced by black soldiers who had every reason to fight and win the war.

Yeah, I assume she's looking at a macro level, not a micro level. I dont disagree that it is lame that the whites killed in absurd ways get basically no media interest though.

Well, it wasn’t double last year. It was 14 whites and 9 blacks.

Macro vs micro? White killings do get coverage. The vast majority of police killings do not get any attention, regardless of who's killed. I mean do people think Michael Brown was the last black person killed by police?

Certain situations grab our attention. It is not just that George Floyd was black that made this such a focal point for all of us.

Like 3 days ago my wife made a comment about cops never killing unarmed whites, I showed her a few a fairly recent cases, although none as disgusting as George Floyd or Tamir Rice but she had no idea these had even happened. Like not at all. They might have popped up in the news but not anything like Floyd or the other guy that was just reaching for his wallet. Not that she is in the news everyday like I am but although I 100% agree cops treat minorities far worse in general, I think the bigger overall issue is just untrained, irrational, angry, power hungry police as a whole.
