2020 Presidential election

Political rhetoric is just a social construct. You go to college, and the profs tell you about non-existent categorical terms with no reference to any objective reality.

The idea of the American Constitution was an agreement about government at the federal level that the various States would find tolerable. Most of the people then involved saw the example of British cartelism as something they wished to prevent. So they conspired to create a system that would limit the possibilities of a powerful central government that could be taken over by a few elites and commercial interests..... so they wished.

The idea of communism was invented by British gentry to try to divert the common folk from the idea of people actually having their own way in their government.

Communism has always been a damn lie used to consolidate power in the name of ideals of a fake utopia promising every over-the-rainbow dream people have ever been beguiled to imagine would be a better world. But it has never been a system that actually lived up to such dreams, and rather has given people the worst performance in human history for making life better.

Elites, cartelists, power- and wealth-seeking management wonks love the power and opportunity it gives them.

The current balance of influence in the Democratic Party has become, at least rhetorically, all-inclusive of terms like socialism and communism, and today there is no actual understanding of the original intent of the American Constitution.

After all, committed Liars are always changing the meanings of the words they use.
I’m glad babe gets the opportunity to be in one of his old wheelhouses every now and then. I agree with a lot of this.... But not the parts that seem to tip your whole description in the direction of producing fear and distrust of honest, good-intentioned regulation of the capitalist system. Just like the ability to set the limits on the activities of government, we also need ways and means to limit the amount of capitalism (growth, accumulation, debt with usury ...) we find tolerable.

I don’t think you really believe the notion that semantic fluidity is owned exclusively by one group. You seem smarter than that.

I would hazard the opinion that Christianity during the pre-Constantine era gained a lot of converts from the "socialism" inherent in caring about others and helping out when needed so far as they could. Old fat elites padding about the marbled halls and baths with wine and babes then are really not so different from our Epstein haute couture today. I think you could sorta draw a parallel between the fleshpot hotels of Thailoand and oh say Pompei.

We tried to regulate corporate practices in the twenties of a hundred years ago with some anti-monopoly laws. What happened next......

Well the fat asses took their money offshore. They build auto and airplane factories in Germany. Tires and ammo plants. Lots of good stuff like that.

Today we have allowed them to build up China's production capabilities while demolishing our own.

I agree with your basic analysis that there's a problem here with unregulated businesses, particularly multinational businesses with no basic fear for the loss of this country, or concern for the people here.

I think Bill Clinton was the turning point in the Democratic Party, away from a basic commitment to our prosperity and security, allowing our corporates to finally totally renege on the social contract once in place with their union work force. The unions were corrupted to where they saw betrayal of their workers rather as the acquistion of hordes of lower-paid imported workers..... semi-slave labor in some sense.

NAFTA was the SHAFTA for American workers.

I really don't think Trump sees this. He's always talking about deals, thinking somehow taking care of the big players will be good for us.

My favorite part is how democrats are somehow for liberalism socialism and communism all at the same time!

And that the opposite of communism is uh, "constitution."

Have you noticed the right’s attacks on Biden? He’s both a part of the boring establishment and represents the status quo and he’s a radical socialist revolutionary who will forever change America at the same time.

And the Trump campaign keeps trying to run ads like he’s the challenger. They I guess hope that Americans forget that he’s the incumbent who has run America into the ground.

He is also sleepy Joe who is at the same time senile, yet genius enough and sharp enough to destroy the world's most powerful country.

Lolz

We actually need a functioning executive branch if the U.S. is going to compete globally in coming years.

2020 has clearly shown that the current executive of the U.S. can hardly handle fair weather and melts the second raindrops start to fall.

I'd hate to see what would happen if while flailing in the face of a pandemic and resulting economic downturn (his solution to which is to say, "let's all pretend there isn't a pandemic and then the economy will fix itself and I won't have to do any critical thinking) if one of our major international rivals wanted to really put us to the test. I mean really put us to the test, not minor stuff like directly interfering in our election system or paying bounties for dead U.S. soldiers.

Nothing is sticking to Biden because trump is far worse.

and by throwing completely crazy stuff out there these bozos just erode their credibility.

The conservatives have given power to the liberals with this crap show. Thanks Donnie.

the fact that nazis love trump is one thing. The fact that no one at trump rallies confronts them and asks that they not wave a swastika is another.

What’s crazy to me is that Trump’s only winning move would be to surrender to the mask crowd, mandate and drive down the numbers and hopefully show enough of a win that people take a second look at his ability to show results when his admin applies themselves. He can’t win unless COVID is decimated.

It’s getting near the end of the 3rd quarter and he’s down about three touchdowns. If Biden doesn’t start giving unforced errors, it’s over.

This is bat **** crazy

Religion will be gone? By sleepy Joe Stalin?

Wut? There’s a replacement for Obamacare? And what’s DACA and the Supreme Court have to do with this health care legislation? I don’t get it.

Yeah yeah yeah. So unfairly treated. Bla bla.

Trump is basically already saying what we all know is going to happen: the election is not legitimate and will be challenged. He won’t go quietly.

My guess is he’s pretty pissed at Wallace right now and will probably talk about how he’s part of the fake media.

Hey, just like you guys...

Seems like a pretty accurate statement. What’s inaccurate about it? How are we supposed to describe someone who votes for an obvious racist who defends confederates and promotes racist policies? I don’t want to hurt your feelings so what would be the PC thing to call people like you? Racists? Bigots? Morons?

Biden won on the strength of the black vote in the Democratic party. He didn't get a pass from me, but I'm not going to tell any black person who will best represent their interests.
Are you referring to his time as Vice President (which wasn't his win, it was Obamas), or are you going all the way back to when he was a Senator?
