Shedding Conley's $35 million for next year might be key to the franchise's long term survival for all we know. If the loss of fans costs teams 40%, then his number is right there.

On another note, this is a hot take and is not predicated on bubble play (I haven't watched any other team and have probably seen a game and a quarter total of our own games thus far [this also wouldn't happen]):

Trade Conley and Donovan to Portland for Lillard.
You can go out and sign a Millsap for the MLE. Fill out the roster with defenders.

Our current problem is that all of our offensive firepower (Mitchell, Conley, Bojan, Clarkson) aren't doing much for us on defense. Consolidating two-for-one allows us to negate a bit of that. This is a move that's definitely a 4-5 year move, rather than longer, but when faced with the potential reality of a "Donovan and friends" team that's sans Gobert, I'd rather go all-in on the next couple years and think the Gobert/Lillard pairing would have a lot more chemistry and good vibes.

I think it would happen to where the players get their money through some sort of league insurance (which helps the owners pockets). It's wishful thinking, but maybe something exists that can address the lost revenue with regards to player/NBAPA/league insurance.

Also, an amnesty provision doesn’t solve MONEY problems, only CAP problems. Real money is the problem here and there isn’t really a way out of it (that doesn’t already exist).

YUP. I think we could move Conley to the Knicks once their FA aspirations are dashed. Detroit might be another team we could do an uneven deal with to save some cash... but Santa ain't come down that chimney.

Its completely made up... do you know why they get insurance if a player get's hurt... because they have injury insurance. Some players are actually uninsurable.

They have business interruption insurance but may not get those funds. The escrow amount will change and they may give out some amnesty to help teams avoid the tax... but that will really be stealing from Peter to pay Paul (the tax goes to the non-tax teams).

Hard thing on imagine moving Conley to the Knicks is that they're locked on Barrett and maybe they'll even go for Ball on this draft (yeah, Knicks being Knicks), even for the Knicks being the Knicks argument, i just don't think they're exactly looking for a pg right now.

I could picture Detroit fancying Conley, albeit Rose revival doesn't help, but what i think that really would set them away from Conley would be a 20/21 season behind closed doors. Right now selling tickets is the reason for them to not tanking, if there's no crowd, then they should just play for the ping pong balls.

I'm gonna hold out hope something happens where we don't have to pay all of Conley's ridiculous contract against our cap next year. Highly unlikely, but COVID making everybody play in a bubble was too.

Conley can teach white and have a solid team of Conley/Mitchell/porter/young/carter and if it doesn’t work out, Conley/porter both expire at the end of the year and Bulls have a core of white/Mitchell/Carter with enough cap space for 2 potential max contracts in the summer of 2021.

Jazz have Satoransky/lavine/bogdanovic/markenden/Gobert with a bench of clarkson/Royce/Ingles/felicio

Burks is having another good game in the bubble today in the playoffs. He was quietly one of the better players in the league in the bubble.
He made 32 of 56 from the field (57%), 12 of 22 from 3 (54%), and 10-14 from the line (71%)

Today he is a team high +7 for philly so far (game is ongoing)

Would take Harris on his deal in a heartbeat provided we don't have to pay for Bojan and Conley. Don't know how to work such a thing in a deal but I just think the fit would be SO good.
