What's new

Potential additions for next year at SF/PF, PF/C

Like I said, I'm holding out hope that the NBA comes up with some measure to save money for the owners for the viability of the league.

Sounded initially to me more like you were trying to imagine a way to get out of Conley's contract penalty free (which to be fair to you, it seems like you're not alone in wanting to do).

I wouldn't say its out of the realm of possibility for the Jazz to do something with Conley's contract this offseason, but I'd put the odds of it relatively low (and personally I won't be upset if Conley's back with us -- sorry I can't muster up the desperation that many of the rest of you can in this regard).

Would take Harris on his deal in a heartbeat provided we don't have to pay for Bojan and Conley. Don't know how to work such a thing in a deal but I just think the fit would be SO good.
We could move Bojan for assets in a separate deal.

We still need a believable 4, and Bojan gives us nothing besides very good scoring. Harris is also substantially younger, and both his PER and +/- bear out that he's a more complete player. It's not long ago that he was also one of the best playmaking 4s in the PnR in the entire league.
I just watched the end of the Philly game. That’s a miserable team... I think many of them are playing below what they could.

I 1000% expect us to keep this core together, re-sign Clarkson, use the MLE to boost the bench, keep our pick.

The only likely salary dump move will be to move Ed.

So... yeah, like I was saying...

Because we have a real issue admitting we are wrong. We are going to transition from grossly overpaying Conley to grossly overpaying Gobert.

I told you guys the Conley deal was not a good idea. I hate being a mediocre team.

It's funny to me that people here can watch the playoffs and still not understand why the Jazz value Conley.

Like go watch game 1. Murray and Jokic ran two man pick and roll for damn near the entire 4th and OT. Denver ran nothing else. Utah ran PnR for Donovan to exploit a mismatch almost every possession. That's why he scored 57.

THAT'S PLAYOFF BASKETBALL. It's all about one or two players identifying mismatches and exploiting them.

The Jazz learned the difference between regular season basketball and playoff basketball playing Houston the last few years. Yeah with Rubio, Favs and that group we were a fun and consistent regular season team. But we got to the playoffs and Donovan was the only one who could exploit a mismatch. Houston simply switched everything defensively and locked our offense.

This is why the Jazz traded for Conley. This is why the Jazz signed Bogey. This is why the Jazz traded for Clarkson.

These are guys who can exploit mismatches offensively in playoff situations. That is why the Jazz value these guys.

Making a prediction now... if the Jazz keep this core group together and improve the bench this offseason a whole lot of people are going to feel silly that they doubted this group come the playoffs in 2021.

You are right. I need to see what Conley does in the playoffs prior to judging his deal. Hopefully, he's back for Game 3.
