According to Tony Jones, Donovan will be playing point this season and Mike will play off ball with the starters and then be the primary ball handler with the second unit. I think it's a great move, we all knew Donovan was going to be a point guard eventually so why wait.

An incredibly novel idea... wish I had thought of this two years ago before we made a huge move that changed the construction of the team... oh wait.

It would make more sense to have a 6’8” guy, who’s cheaper, and shoots threes better, be your off ball guy. Why have a 6’0” guy off ball?
I feel like Locke has said Conley was one of the higher catch and shoot guys in the league so not the worst thing ever, obviously hindsight is 20/20. It’ll be nice to have his handling skills in the second unit, Joe turns over balls a lot. I still think we move him by the deadline tho.

It’s a start and we know Mitchell will flourish at PG. Still holding out hope for a Conley trade.

Really, it shouldn't matter what you call them. All of our guys should be capable of operating with and without the ball. But Mitchell and Ingles have been unwilling to play without the ball.

Y'all are so obsessed with the PG label. Mitchell's usage is off the charts regardless
Who’s y’all? Sounds like Tony Jones is trying to convey what the organization is thinking. Why are they obsessed with the label?

I think it’s clear here that they’re saying Conley won’t dominate the ball as much and will have a larger role as a spot-up shooter.

What Tony tweeted is what happened last year lmfao. Conley never dominated the ball in Utah.

He's Mike Effing Conley, biatch! The man, the myth, the guaranteed starter regardless of what's best for the team.

'Nuff said.

The Conley hate is so over the top. Dude is still a solid player, just not a good fit, especially with JC on the roster.
No one ever said he was a ****** player. But the very best screwdriver in the world will have a really hard time chopping down a redwood. The wrong fit is as bad as a bad player. It makes the team worse on the whole.

His usage was higher than his career average, and a bit lower than the past few years. I think when people say point guard, it's clear what we're talking about. What they're saying is that (presumably) we're not going to be forcing things through Conley, which we seemed to do last year by a default because... he's the point guard and he's Mike Conley.

It’s just funny when management gets to the same spot a bunch of us were two years ago. Would be nice if the front office had enough vision to go this route before making a huge trade to address the need we didn’t really have. Mike still has obvious value but nothing near what we paid for in a trade and nothing near what his contract is... but we oh well I guess.
