Favors and Burks are the future of the Utah Jazz

So that shows the lackness of SF in our team, not that Hayward plays best at SF. Burks is already a SG, he cant play SF, when he is on court, we can play Hayward as SF depending on his matchup, but i insist, he would perform much better as a SG than SF. Why not play someone in a position he has obvious physical advantage? And it is not like Millsap playing SF instead of PF, he has many disadvantages there but Hayward doesn't have any disadvantage or any ability he lacks that a SG should have.

Or it shows that the 2/3 are largely interchangeable.

I've watched the highlights from Colorado's NIT games, and I'd really like to see Burks run the point a little bit this season. Yes, he likes to shoot more often than he should, but he seems to have really good vision on the court, and has a knack for making the right pass (again, based on highlights). He has the length, athleticism and rebounding ability to be a real mismatch at the 1 as well.

When I said I would like to see Burks get some time at point guard next year and HOPED he could develop into a starting point guard in the future so Hayward could stay at shooting guard, I caught all kinds of flack. I am still hoping for that.

We all remember guys like Kirk Snyder, Morris Almond, tell me when BURKS is better than they.
I haven't seen him in Colorado at all, his tools are nice but i think that is a head case.

I think people who want Hayward to play sg are underestimating his ability. Hayward possesses great intangibles, remember he was a rookie, and still very young, he should be able to bulk up to better defend other sf's. I saw the game vs. the Lakers, and I know Kobe is a sg, but let's face it he is a sg in a sf's body, and Hayward did just fine against Kobe. Other than Favors Hayward is every bit as athletic as anyone on this team. Some perceive him to not be very athletic because he's white and looks like he is 16 yrs. old. The only players I see him really struggling against would be James, Anthony, and Durant, ummmm I think they are matchup problems for everyone not just Hayward. In two years I see him as are best player. He's a scorer shooter playmaker, and has great instincts offensively and defensively.

Flame away....

What that Detroit team showed was you can win with FIVE guys playing D together and only 4 guys with jump shots. Actually, going back to Rodman/Salley, at times it was only 3 real scorers, although both Rodman and Salley played smart and knew when to roll to the basket for a dunk or layup. But they ate and drank DEFENSE on those ol' Piston teams! The Jazz have yet to develop a defensive "identity" except for fouling anyone in the paint; not exactly a formula for success.
The problem is when a big is greatly overmatched in the paint by his opposite number, as Millsap is vs. so many others. That's a weakness that is very difficult to hide against all these teams with "twin tower" combos that have been created in recent years. Millsap's best shot at success while helping his team is off the bench at BOTH SF and PF; hopefully he'll be willing to do something like that for the Jazz down the road...
I am dubious we'll see AK return, as I don't think we'll wanna pay what he wants. He would help us defensively this year, but then he'd be taking minutes from other younger guys who need court-time to develop. This is something the Jazz brass have to be weighing in on...
As with Millsap, I would never say Hayward "couldn't" do something on the court. BOTH are great competitors willing to do whatever it takes to help the team, including developing new skills we've not seen. I also think the same re: Big Al. I was saying Hayward has already shown he can play SG effectively at both ends for us; he's got some work to do in ye ol' gym to become as effective as a SF.

Quick question... I know he's not Jerry Sloan, but Corbin seems to run a lot of the same stuff. Do you guys really think that Burks is going to have much chance to go isolation in our offense? Just wondering.

I hope not.

Team ball is what has kept me a jazz fan. Movement, enexpected cutters, quick interior passing is much more fun to watch compared to 80% of the nba: Drive and dish for a 3, iso, iso, iso, drive and jump into someone for the foul.

It seems our offense is more of an iso as a last resort, we cant run our play effectively, so give to an iso-capable player for the final 8 seconds of the shot clock.

But who knows what corbin has (or hasn't) got up his sleeve.

Hayward is easily one of the least athletic people on the team. Favors, Burks, Harris (set Guiness book world record with 3.9 seconds from end to end of a Bball court while dribbling ball), Evans, Miles, Price and AK.

He is on par athletically with Millsap and Bell. More athletic than Okur, Jefferson, Kanter, Watson, and Elson

As far as who will be the best out of Burks, Hayward, Favors, or Kanter, I think you might as well throw at a dart board to determine it. If Burks gets his shot down, he obviously is going to be really good. Hayward has already shown glimpses of all star caliber play. Favors has his elite size and athleticism going for him. Kanter has dominated at every level including the Eurobasket taking age into account.

^ this!! Could not be better put! You deserve more rep power for the comment Jazz4ever! :)

Not even close. We all knew Brewer could never fix his shot. With that injury, he cannot get proper rotation. Burks' problems have been more about shot selection and feeling like he has to throw it up every time he touches the ball. In that respect, I hope he doesn't come in and emulate Morris Almond. I'd really like to see Hayward slide in to the starting SG spot and create size mismatches. That will depend on his defensive capabilities, though. If that happens, Burks becomes our Corey Maggette off the bench. And then the Jazz draft or sign a starting SF.

I'm the highest on Favors and hope Kanter can be an impact player. Evans? He's a backup at best. But I do like his attitude.

Your not giving Burks enough credit! the dude is going to be Really really good in 5 years. saying corey magette makes me cringe!!
