Game Thread Jun 16, 2021 08:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Clippers - Game 5

Added to Calendar: 06-16-21

I think you guys are miscommunicating and talking about two separate things:

- For the NBA protocol, the tests would have to be 24 hours apart.

- For CP3 and Phoenix's own piece of mind, they'd run another test, independent from the above, just to see (themselves, not for the protocol) if they think it was a false positive.

Yes to the second point.

Question is how long hes out. Multiple source reported that Paul and the rest of the Suns were already vaccinated.

My guess is hes out for the whole series.
Regardless if he's vaccinated or not, the rules agreed to prior to the season say a player who tests positive can only return at least 12 days after his first positive test or 12 days after the conclusion of their symptoms.

So, if he's out, he'll be out for the first two games for sure, maybe even the first four depending on whether the Jazz win this series in six.

For the love of god man I like you but take a deep breath and re-read this entire conversation with the opposite mindset of whatever you did at first.
Take your own advice. I've said multiple times the two-test thing does not apply to positives - so why are you still asking if I think he's had multiple positive tests?

That's not how the protocol works.

**** THE PROTOCOL.

If Chris Paul tests positive you think the Suns are gonna be like oh golly one test and he’s positive we will see what it says tomorrow.

Or do you think they go oh **** let’s test him again in 30 minutes to an hour for our own sake of mind to make sure the first test wasn’t faulty.

It’s not that hard to grasp.

The League did "relax" the protocol for vaccinated individuals.

That is the big key here. IF Paul does play, theres no way he plays the first 2 games in Utah.

Honestly, thats a big win for the Jazz. They will absolutely destroy the Suns in those first 2 games.

I think the point is that regardless what the protocol states, Paul has likely had two positive tests, which really lowers the potential that the first a false positive despite what the post said that triggered all this (that it's extremely likely it's a false positive).

I think they relaxed socializing and whatnot but I'm not sure they would relax return protocol because even vaccinated people can transmit COVID (tho it's not as easy). I'm skeptical the NBA would risk potentially having it spread just due to Paul being vaccinated. But we'll see.

I think everyone besides Steve is grasping it.
