You can't verify whether or not it was a false positive with one negative test immediately after. There has to be two of them, 24 hours apart.

So the two tests he took came back positive. News wouldn’t have broken unless he literally tested positive this morning.

Disagree. If it were a false positive, the Suns would have had plenty of time to test again to confirm (since they've not played in a few days). The fact this news has broken tells me it's not a false positive. They likely tested him Monday and then again yesterday.
There are different variants... vaccines ain't 100%... he likely has it. If he got vaxxed that sucks... I mean it sucks for him either way. Good news is our series will go 7 (if mike ain't playing tonight I doubt he runs game 6) so he gets a few extra days to get out of protocol.

The odds of a false positive are great than getting covid while vaxxed and the variants by and large arent in the USA yet.

The two test thing doesn't apply to positives - just negatives.

I must not be articulating this correctly.

Unless Chris Paul first tested positive this morning isn’t it highly likely that he’s returned 2-3 positive tests since this was announced this morning? Like he tested positive yesterday and then today as well?

Yes. I'm guessing he's had at least two tests and both are positive. I guess it's possible both are false positives but I'm guessing that isn't the case here. Regardless, it seems unlikely, with the time the Suns have had off, they have not tested Paul more than once and if they are putting him through covid protocol, that means he tested positive twice if that's the case.

Once a player tests positive, period, he goes into the protocol until he returns two negative tests within 24 hours (assuming no symptoms).

There doesn't need to be two positive tests.

Question is how long hes out. Multiple source reported that Paul and the rest of the Suns were already vaccinated.

My guess is hes out for the whole series.

There doesn't need to be two positive tests.

So you think he’s only been tested once.

I think you guys are miscommunicating and talking about two separate things:

- For the NBA protocol, the tests would have to be 24 hours apart.

- For CP3 and Phoenix's own piece of mind, they'd run another test, independent from the above, just to see (themselves, not for the protocol) if they think it was a false positive.

Yes to the second point.

Regardless if he's vaccinated or not, the rules agreed to prior to the season say a player who tests positive can only return at least 12 days after his first positive test or 12 days after the conclusion of their symptoms.

So, if he's out, he'll be out for the first two games for sure, maybe even the first four depending on whether the Jazz win this series in six.

For the love of god man I like you but take a deep breath and re-read this entire conversation with the opposite mindset of whatever you did at first.
Take your own advice. I've said multiple times the two-test thing does not apply to positives - so why are you still asking if I think he's had multiple positive tests?

That's not how the protocol works.

**** THE PROTOCOL.

If Chris Paul tests positive you think the Suns are gonna be like oh golly one test and he’s positive we will see what it says tomorrow.

Or do you think they go oh **** let’s test him again in 30 minutes to an hour for our own sake of mind to make sure the first test wasn’t faulty.

It’s not that hard to grasp.

The League did "relax" the protocol for vaccinated individuals.

That is the big key here. IF Paul does play, theres no way he plays the first 2 games in Utah.

Honestly, thats a big win for the Jazz. They will absolutely destroy the Suns in those first 2 games.
