4, but can play small 5. Would we trust Doke come playoff time anyway?

Obviously the regular season will determine that.

The TPE would actually be more interesting because whereas nobody was taking his contract but the size of his contract is perfect for a number of players. If Cleveland wants to dump Nance then get on the phone. We need to see the protections here. We also got a second. I am not sure we didn’t do the equivalent of what Detroit did… moved back 20 spots to get off Plumlees money. Also remember when the Bucks gave up a first for PJ Tucker? They also got a second from Houston… so it was a swap of 24 for 31. It could be we are in the 20s and OKC is in the 30s. I want all the details before I get too hung up. There weren’t a lot of cap space teams and some didn’t want additional salary.
There is an outside shot we suck in FA and don’t use taxpayer MLE… if that happens can we use the trade exception and a second to get Nance? If the rumors are true that is doable.
Yes but I prefer to say it how it is… we will hear that they had to do this to retain Mike… nope… they had to do it to save a billionaire 50M… while said owner already saves like 75-100m a year on taxes for owning the team and taking massive depreciation deductions… on an appreciating asset.Semantics. We weren’t winning it all running it back with an identical core. We need to adapt on the fly; sign Gay or someone like that to have a shot, do something. And keeping Favors and signing Gay AND re-signing Conley would’ve brought on an absurd tax. Smith could pay it, of course, but why pay it when you can save the money and play Udoka? And/or sign a third center for far far cheaper. It just makes too much sense—unless of course the 1st is only top five protected. This added with the fact that Favors is just a crappy contract and it had to happen IMO.
As a side note, if we do sign Batum or Gay, with Butler, Ingles, Gay/Batum and presumably Udoka on the 2nd unit, Clarkson becomes much more expendable to me. I know Don might get butthurt but if we could flip Clarkson for a cheaper 3 and D guy mid-season (maybe Aminu shows something) then I think that’s a smart move.
You poke around FA for Batum or Gay… but if it doesn’t work sign a minimum guy like Abdul Nader and trade for Nance. I have a whole blueprint I will lay out… it’s clear management is listening to me through some magic algorithm that Qualtrics developed… I will make sure it’s crystal clear for JZ.The TPE would actually be more interesting because whereas nobody was taking his contract but the size of his contract is perfect for a number of players. I dont blame him but I don’t love this narrative that it had to be done… Warriors will pay more tax this year than we ever have or will… maybe Brooklyn too… not being salty just want to make sure folks understand.
If we lost Rudy, I think we are close to a .500 team with Favors and Doke at C with a little help from a "small ball 5" addition. If we did lose Rudy for a month or two, that .500 play could be a big deal in making or not making the playoffs. I also think that Favors could be an asset for 10 minutes a game against certain big men.Not sure what @LoPo was upset about. If Rudy goes down to injury, there was no way favors was going to spell Rudy for a month or two. I was disappointed in favors last year. He looks like he’s out of gas. Even if we couldn’t unload favors, I’d be in favor of playing Udoka over him right now.
Yeah, it sucks we had to give up a pick. But I’d rather give up a future pick than trade a proven asset like bogey or Clarkson in order to shed favors’ salary.
Btw, what’s OKC doing with all these picks? Are they going to have a team full of rookies in a few years? Use them as trade bait to get some proven players? I like what they’re doing. They could be scary in a few years.

You guys are weird lol. Everyone wanted to trade Favors/30 for a second round pick and in the end we may have just traded Favors and two second round picks for one second round pick.
What did people really expect? Plumlee who is a better player with the same salary got dealt with 37 and for 57 back.
This saves is so much money. Of course it’s frustrating because we didn’t have to sign Favors for that much but in the end it’s not a big deal and helps us tremendously.
If our offseason is getting Jared Butler and someone like Batum with the MLE while only losing Favors that is a huge win for our team.
