The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

That sounds rough. My heavy stuff is not too different from yours, except it is my brother-in-law. He's retired military with PTSD and alcohol addiction on the level of Nicholas Case in second half of Leaving Las Vegas, except that he's in my guest bedroom. He's not battling addiction because that would indicate some sort of resistance. I'm watching him kill himself and I'm running out of ideas to slow things down. My wife has contacted a group of former military who help in situations like this and they're willing to do what they can but my brother-in-law has no interest. He doesn't want help.
My goodness thats horrible. Worse than what im going through imo. So frustrating to be fighting for someone who wont fight for themselves. Can really piss a person off to be honest. I had a best friend who was addicted to pills and I would make him go to clinics and get help and it never made any difference. He would lie to me and steal from me and eventually it got to a point that I had to cut him out of my life which broke my heart but it had to be done. I had a life to live and couldn't move on with his addiction ****ing up my life.

Addiction is horrible and ugly and devastating. I wish you the best though it doesn't sound very hopeful for you. So sorry. At least my dad wants help.

Utah has passed their Republican gerrymandered bill for congressional redistricting. We voted for an independent nonpartisan committee. They spent many months putting together maps, which the legislature disregarded immediately in favor of one they broke out last Friday night for their vote on Monday - making sure there was no time for public comment. So much for voters affecting anything.

Guaranteed to have no Democrat representation for the next 10 years. They actually said that there needs to be a "united front" for our leaders. Not so proud of my state government.

Yeah we should pass an initiative that says that they have to follow the initiatives that we pass... oh wait. They'd just **** on that like they have every single initiative we've passed in the last 10 years.

I don’t have a ton to add, but a couple years back my wife and I were in Vegas and saw Sarah McLachlan. She played “Sweet Surrender” and before starting had mentioned that she wrote this song about a Nicholas Cage movie from the 90s called Leaving Las Vegas. Since I hadn’t seen that movie, but had instead seen another Nicholas Cage movie from the 90s called Honeymoon in Vegas, I kept wondering how that song was in any way about that movie, and why she was so inspired by it. I then later realized there were two Nicholas Cage movies from the 90s based in Vegas and I read the plot line on Wikipedia and it was depressing AF. (Does anyone read movie plots on Wikipedia? It’s almost like watching the movie.) Sorry to hear about that.

I read movie plots all the time, especially when a sequel is coming out and I can't remember enough of the movie. I don't often do it for movies I haven't seen though.

I also do this for books I've read.

And sorry you guys are going through so much.

I would think all of the “forgotten man” Trumpers would love this. It provides jobs and financial support to all those who have been “forgotten” and that’s why they voted for a strongman like Trump, right? Health care, jobs, help for working class families. They should be celebrating because obviously it was the economy not race/sex/education issues that turned them to Trump.

Trump, the rich billionaire didn’t do anything to help the working class. Remember his “infrastructure week?” He got distracted and got in a fight with Pelosi. Meanwhile, working class Biden has obtained billions for working class families and older folks! A great investment for America that I’m sure all forgotten man Trumpers are going to celebrate, right? Thanks President Biden! I’m not tired from all of this winning!

Fake news edits Biden’s speech so bad that his hand disappears mid sentence. I’m sure all those who hate the lying media will speak out against Fox News over this. Cuz you know, truth and honesty are all they care about, right?

Very informative. I lived on Alma St in Palo Alto in the yellow on the map. I lived in a 400 sqf apartment that was an old garage or shed. I paid 2k a month for rent back during 06 and 08. I bet it's 5 k now.

Very informative.

Comparing the amount of housing being built in the aftermath of the housing bubble versus the population is disinformation. Housing was down all across the country in that period. That said, I agree California could do better. NIMBY is a human-wide issue.

This is a long video of cherry-picking that pretends the Democratic party is progressive. Based on such a fundamental lie, the video can't help but be full of lies.

Strong confusion of causal direction in the last part of the video.

Sorry to hear about this. This is terrible. Since he has been back, has he dealt with any issues from agent orange?
My dad was in Vietnam. He is now 76 and was recently diagnosed with an incredibly rare type of cancer that is a direct result of contact with agent orange.

This is certainly no attack on what you think.

Do you listen as well as you hear?

You say, "cherry picking" while I say interesting, educational and I have nothing to refute his points.

It's like you're rolling your eyes to some serious **** that no one wants.

If this dude is cherry picking, argue his points. I lived in Palo Alto for years. I agree with him.

I thought republicans were the big tent party who values diversity and hated cancel culture?
