Coronavirus

This is the second time you've misrepresented what the CDC says. I'm on the verge of just throwing you in the liar camp and ignoring you.

The absolute golden standard of resistance to COVID is previous infection AND vaccination. Assuming your first infection does not kill you or cause long term harm, you are in the best possible position moving forward having been infected and vaccinated.

So when you decide to tell us all what the CDC says, please go ahead and tell what the CDC says.

TIA

Dude. Did I say that natural immunity was shown to be stronger that natural immunity + a vaccination ?? (For however long that lasts). ??

I’m not talking about the “gold standard” that you mention. This is merely someone double vaxxed vs naturally immune post infection.
You’re trying to misrepresent the situation in talking about

The booster arguement amongst the younger portion of the population is a rapidly evolving one

So further to the Djokovic fiasco. Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev was tested positive to Covid but allowed to travel into Australia to compete in the tennis while positive. Why ?? Because he’s been double vaccinated. You know it makes sense. Cuz rules. The WHO specifically says there is no evidence to vaccinate younger ppl previously Covid positive with a booster. The CDC specifically says data now shows natural immunity is better than having been vaccinated. The CEO of Pfizer says the current shot doesn’t really work. The CDC says the vaccines can’t stop transmission. Australia is a hotbed of Omicron infections atm, mostly thankfully very mild.

But the Australian government stops an unvaccinated tennis player coming n purely because he might whip up abroad sentiment whil allowing a CURRNETLY POSITIVE tennis player into the country. Cuz rules. Rules are rules and they have to be adhered to. Yay us.

As much as I’d love to hear how the dumb **** with a chuck norris profile picture would spin this and fry his tiny little brain trying to make it some political thing the ignore function is a wonderful thing.

Stay safe everyone. The end of the pandemic I believe is in sight
Two things.

#1 could you imagine a country trying to regulate travel by who has gotten sick? Like what would you show? A positive Covid test? For how long after you test positive are you considered “immune?” What if you never got tested? It just makes sense to have a standard rule of vaccination. Right?

#2 this is such a weird hill to die on dude. Be honest, how many full tennis matches have you watched from start to finish in the last 3 years? Without googling, tell me Ryblev’s last match he competed in.

You understand Australia has actual problems to deal with, right? Maybe focus on those instead of these weird culture war issues between entitled millionaire tennis players and countries. These assholes don’t need you to rush to their defense.

It’s just pure comedy to me to see these bored, entitled, and angry conservatives itching for a fight dying on these hills. As if they actually give a **** about tennis or women’s sports (we gotta ban trans people cuz women’s sports integrity or something something).

Huh. Isn’t this funny? So the more unvaccinated people there are, the more sick people there will be, and the more money this company and its shareholders will make, right?

I bet all the angry forgotten men across post industrial counties who are being left behind and are angry at elites will turn on this guy for his elitism. He literally benefits financially the more people get sick from Covid.

Three new studies released yesterday….

Three large new studies from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention highlight the importance of getting a booster shot to provide the best protection against the Omicron coronavirus variant.

This is the first real-life data to examine the effect of boosters against Omicron, which now accounts for more than 99% of coronavirus cases in the United States. The studies, released Friday, raise the question of whether people with just two vaccine doses should still be considered fully vaccinated.

"I think we have to redefine fully vaccinated as three doses," said Dr. William Schaffner, a longtime CDC vaccine adviser who was not involved with the studies.

The studies have an enormous scope, involving millions of cases, hundreds of thousands of visits to emergency departments and urgent care centers, and tens of thousands of hospitalizations among adults.

But Joe Rogan said differently. So who should I trust? Medical professionals and empirical data or Joe Rogan, Clay Travis, and Tucker? Besides, I’m angry and need to stand up for this millionaire tennis player with a monetary interest in alt drug therapies who blew off Australia’s vax policy. He really needs defending! #ownthelibs /s

Good post, glad you had the patience to add some facts to this thread. People have gotten sick all around me at work and in my neighborhood. I’ve been boosted and *knock on wood* haven’t gotten sick (yet). Hope it stays that way until this wave passes.

The CDC specifically says data now shows natural immunity is better than having been vaccinated.

As of Oct. 29, they were saying:
  • Whereas there is a wide range in antibody titers in response to infection with SARS-CoV-2, completion of a primary vaccine series, especially with mRNA vaccines, typically leads to a more consistent and higher-titer initial antibody response.
Also:
  • Substantial immunologic evidence and a growing body of epidemiologic evidence indicate that vaccination after infection significantly enhances protection and further reduces risk of reinfection, which lays the foundation for CDC recommendations.

I have tried several times to find where the CDC has said natural immunity is better, and have never found it. Can you link to that, please? If not, will you stop repeating this lie?

But, meanwhile, the nut jobs are feeling their oats…

No paywall….

As anti-vaccine activists from across the country prepare to gather on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, they are hoping their rally will mark a once-fringe movement’s arrival as a lasting force in American society.

That hope, some public health experts fear, is justified.

Almost two years into the coronavirus pandemic, the movement to challenge vaccines’ safety — and reject vaccine mandates — has never been stronger. An ideology whose most notable adherents were once religious fundamentalists and minor celebrities is now firmly entrenched among tens of millions of Americans.

Baseless fears of vaccines have been a driving force among the approximately 20 percent of U.S. adults who have refused some of the most effective medicines in human history: the mRNA vaccines developed against the coronavirus by Pfizer, with German partner BioNTech, and Moderna. The nation that produced Jonas Salk has exported anti-vaccine propaganda around the globe, wreaking havoc on public-health campaigns from Germany to Kenya.

The mRNA vaccines are a marvel. The speed with which they were developed and distributed is incredible and a testament to science, but to claim they are “some of the most effective medicines in human history” is a lie. They aren’t. There are a number of vaccines for other diseases that offer near 100% immunity for decades with a single dose. Everyone can see that multiple doses of the mRNA vaccine are required and still breakthrough infections happen. I’m not trying to downplay how great the vaccines are but when an author is calling them some of the most effective medicines in human history, the dishonesty of the author is obvious to everyone and the whole thing can be written off as propaganda. ...and if a news outlet is willing to publish blatant propaganda then maybe the entire outlet is propaganda. I wish media wouldn't be so cavalier with people's trust. Lies, even if they were well meaning, can leave an outsized impact.

October 29. Lol

did you try to not find it ?? It's been everywhere the last few days, depending where you look 2-5 times more effective having suffered a prior infection than vaccinated. Again i am not comparing that to then vaccinated prior or after infection.

I'd be waiting for an apology for the "lie" remark from a few of you but yeah i'm not gonna hold my breath. There's not a lot of intellectual honesty among a few of you

In the mass media, sure, but I don't trust them to report this accurately.

It's true this data shows that unboosted individuals have a fall off of protection over time, so it was not a lie. I do apologize. It'll be interesting to see what the data looks like after October (since you think October information isn't worth much, and this data ends in October).

There's not a lot of intellectual honesty among a few of you
You don't exactly have the best track record in talking about this data.
