What's new

Coronavirus

What I’m talking about is that America is going to pivot away from nanny mandates. They are hurting the economy and extremely unpopular. Republican governors like Ron Desantis pivoted away a while ago and many of their Democrat counterparts are now joining them in moving away. The Federal government has not. That will all change on March 1st when Biden delivers his State of the Union address. In that address he will declare that his efforts have ended the pandemic and moved us into a softer “endemic” stage which doesn’t require the constructs that are polling so poorly. Get ready for every piece of the Federal government to adopt a direction more in line with an understanding of the pandemic being over.

The Republicans, the Democrats, the media, everyone is going to be turning the page. They’ll all claim the science has changed but the reality is that the politics of it has become untenable.
I remember that happening last summer too. No biggie. Cases went down, weather warmed up and people moved outside, hospitalizations went down. I was at the gym yesterday and saw on the tv that hospitalizations were down 19% from last week. Cases were down too. Also, winter is almost over. Also omicron is weak sauce compared to delta and the OG version. Maybe those things have to do with mask mandates and such going away. If all the hospitals are full and hella peoples are dying like a mofo then I expect restrictions to come back or continue. As they should. Pretty simple stuff that makes sense really. Or its just the boogeyman (government/fake news media/left/wokesters/msm/etc). Who knows

Don't tell me that you believe mask mandates and states of emergency were political constructs. We've been told by our betters from the very beginning that THE SCIENCE (all praise be upon it) said they were made necessary by the pandemic. If the state of emergency exists on the morning of March 1st it is only because the pandemic exists, and if later that same day it is all over it is only because THE SCIENCE (all praise be upon it) changed on that day to end the pandemic. Give up your WWII German and southern secessionist ways, for THE SCIENCE loves you as the prophet will explain on March 1st.
You've jumped the shark, man. This is nonsense.

Does he? Whatever.

Life is so much simpler when you don't care about who is creating an alt.
Point taken. But it’s also comical when I log in and see the same poster responding to my posts (despite me ignoring him) in an attempt to illicit a response. And then another alt doing the same thing. If you're incredibly bored (not sure you’d ever be this bored) look at the history of @Bucknutz and @Al-O-Meter posts (they’re the same poster). You’ll find in the last two weeks almost all their posts have been replies to my posts despite me not engaging. It’s been pretty entertaining.

Guys, I’m happily married and I’m really just not into arguing with you.

We’re seeing a similar arc as last year. December and Jan were awful. Feb was less sick. And by May Covid had all but disappeared. Utah was averaging around 200 cases per day last May, so nothing really noticeable.

I’m really excited to do some traveling this summer. Europe? Hawaii? North Carolina? I dunno but I hope to go see some places and eat some good food

She’s going to out fundraise 90 percent of Republicans in congress. This is why I really fear the anti vax movement taking off. Extremist positions and candidates have too many incentives to embrace the crazy.

Bunch of people I work with or their immediate family members just tested positive today.

I have a cruise reserved and paid for that I leave on in just a couple months! Cant wait. My sister (who is one of my favorite people in the world, and her husband too) and her family are going with us too. Its going to be a blast. Gonna stay near the beach in cali for the day and night before the cruise too.

My wife tested positive last week. Me, my daughter and my wife all had the same symptoms so I'm pretty sure me and my daughter had it too but we both tested negative.

What’s it been like for her? Seems like omicron causes more problems in the lower tract than delta or the OG Covid.

I’ve never been on one. My wife has and she says they’re awesome. What’s your liner? Do you start out at Long Beach?

This will be my 8th cruise. I love them. I would rather stay a week in a tropical paradise but that also costs much more. For bang for your buck a cruise cant be beat. I have been to (i might forget a few) vancouver, victoria, ensenada (twice), cozumel, belize, grand cayman (twice), jamaica (twice), haiti, honduras, dominican republic, turks and caicos, and catalina island all on cruises. Great way to see a bunch of countries for pretty cheap and dont need to worry about food, hotel, or passports, or entertainment. Once you have paid for your flight and your cruise you are done! Everything is taken care of after that. So many options too. I have been on cruise ships with ice skating rinks and roller coasters. This one im going on next has a trampoline place (like those you see around town these days) and a ropes course and a bike thing that you drive around suspended up above the ship. Plus all cruises have a bunch of pools, water slides, comedy shows, dance shows, game shows, ice sculpting, silly things like hairy back contests, dance clubs, casinos, tons of bars and restaurants, stores, karaoke, movie screens on the pool deck at nights, spas, gyms, basketball courts, rock climbing walls, pool tables, ping pong, arcade, and a ton more. So much to do and the best thing is if you dont want to do anything but relax then you can do that. You can do as much or as little as you want. They have places you can leave the kids that are fun for them and you dont have to take care of them or worry about them if you dont want. Lots of good free food options. 24 hour pizza and ice cream for free. They have fancy dinners nightly with expensive dishes that are also free. I love those dinners. I try stuff I normally wouldn't and then if I dont like it they just bring me something else. And their chocolate lava cake desert is to die for.
Cruises are awesome and affordable.
The one I am going on next leaves from long beach and goes to cabo san lucas, puerto vallart, and mazatlan. I have never been to any of those places so I will be able to add them to my list of places I have been to.
I recommend leaving from miami though and going to places in the carribean. Costs more though. I love grand cayman, belize, and honduras. Those are probably my favorites. I dont like jamaica. The place I really want to go to is a private island owned by carnival called half moon cay (little san salvador island). Hope to go there next time. Had a cruise booked with that location in the itinerary but it was cancelled in may of 2020 due to covid.

I have done like 5 carnival cruises and 2 royal carribean cruises. This one im going on next is carnival again.

How did you like the Cruise experience of visiting Vancouver and Victoria?

I went to Victoria one time in the Navy and it was both very nice and a little dirty. Would like to go back up that way with my wife. I've considered driving to Vancouver and then maybe taking a ferry to Victoria.

I didn't like that cruise as much. I love beaches and swimming/snorkeling. Dont really like going to cities and/or cold locations. But that cruise was paid for by my uncle so I cant complain.

This one is different. Biden is going to figuratively hang a 'Mission Accomplished' banner in this SOTU address and his half of the media-sphere will run with that message.
Unless the hospitals fill up again and death rise like crazy or a new much more deadly variant arrives. Which again, makes sense.

Oh, OK. I lived in San Diego for 6 years and went to the beach about 4 times, and 3 of those times was under protest. It's 100% not my thing. I always said that I like the beach other than the sun, the sand and the salt water. I'd be way more into exploring a big city and trying some really good restaurants.

As far as responding to your posts I'll admit that it is like catnip. I don't care if you respond or not as your responses aren't nearly as interesting as the original stuff you lead off with. When you raved at how great Biden's approval ratings were only to have Gandalfe nudge you to point out the ratings were a full 10 points lower than you were saying... Magnificent.

You seem to have this echochamber vision of half the country being Q-Anon maniacs who want to install a fascist government and that delusion leads to some phenomenally entertaining content from you. Some of it is so over the top that if you came out and said everything you wrote was Titania McGrath-like satire, I'd believe you. Your responses aren't so sharp and usually consist of who you think I am or brushing off invitations to arguments I never made. You do occasionally come up with good ones like when you explained that you used to teach all your kids that a republic was a branch off from democracy. I would have loved to hear your tapdance at how the DPRK was a branch off of democracy, but the point is that generally speaking your responses aren't nearly as much fun as the twitter feed you post in what genuinely appears to be serious belief. Whatever train you're on, more please.

Serious question to anyone: Is Franklin the same as Babe or Bucknutz? I tried searching for a 'Franklin' but it didn't pull anything up.

I don't know if his original account is connected to his new name but he now goes by idestroyedyourtoilet. And his old username, like babe's, did not contain any capital letters.

FWIW I do not believe you are a franklin alt.
