What's new

Coronavirus

I don't know if his original account is connected to his new name but he now goes by idestroyedyourtoilet. And his old username, like babe's, did not contain any capital letters.

FWIW I do not believe you are a franklin alt.
Haha, I'm guessing he has several alts. Who was Jazzyfresh? Seemed like he admitted to having about 2-3 alts before he was banned.

Bunch of people I work with or their immediate family members just tested positive today.
It's still going around. Fortunately, most folks are getting a pretty mild version. I've only known of a few people recently who've had sore throats that wouldn't go away, coughs that wouldn't stop, and lower tract issues that are always no fun. Hope they feel better soon.

This will be my 8th cruise. I love them. I would rather stay a week in a tropical paradise but that also costs much more. For bang for your buck a cruise cant be beat. I have been to (i might forget a few) vancouver, victoria, ensenada (twice), cozumel, belize, grand cayman (twice), jamaica (twice), haiti, honduras, dominican republic, turks and caicos, and catalina island all on cruises. Great way to see a bunch of countries for pretty cheap and dont need to worry about food, hotel, or passports, or entertainment. Once you have paid for your flight and your cruise you are done! Everything is taken care of after that. So many options too. I have been on cruise ships with ice skating rinks and roller coasters. This one im going on next has a trampoline place (like those you see around town these days) and a ropes course and a bike thing that you drive around suspended up above the ship. Plus all cruises have a bunch of pools, water slides, comedy shows, dance shows, game shows, ice sculpting, silly things like hairy back contests, dance clubs, casinos, tons of bars and restaurants, stores, karaoke, movie screens on the pool deck at nights, spas, gyms, basketball courts, rock climbing walls, pool tables, ping pong, arcade, and a ton more. So much to do and the best thing is if you dont want to do anything but relax then you can do that. You can do as much or as little as you want. They have places you can leave the kids that are fun for them and you dont have to take care of them or worry about them if you dont want. Lots of good free food options. 24 hour pizza and ice cream for free. They have fancy dinners nightly with expensive dishes that are also free. I love those dinners. I try stuff I normally wouldn't and then if I dont like it they just bring me something else. And their chocolate lava cake desert is to die for.
Cruises are awesome and affordable.
The one I am going on next leaves from long beach and goes to cabo san lucas, puerto vallart, and mazatlan. I have never been to any of those places so I will be able to add them to my list of places I have been to.
I recommend leaving from miami though and going to places in the carribean. Costs more though. I love grand cayman, belize, and honduras. Those are probably my favorites. I dont like jamaica. The place I really want to go to is a private island owned by carnival called half moon cay (little san salvador island). Hope to go there next time. Had a cruise booked with that location in the itinerary but it was cancelled in may of 2020 due to covid.

I have done like 5 carnival cruises and 2 royal carribean cruises. This one im going on next is carnival again.
Way solid post. Thanks! I don't have much more to add to this since I've never been on a cruise but do you ever get sea sick (is that even common?) or feel uncomfortable on the ship? Are there any things you'd wish you'd known before going?

Serious question to anyone: Is Franklin the same as Babe or Bucknutz? I tried searching for a 'Franklin' but it didn't pull anything up.
No idea about Bucknutz , but franklin is very unlikely to be be babe. franklin posts conservative-leaning ideas that make economic sense and asks serious questions that show there are no good answers, at least on his better days.

Never ever get sea sick but I dont get motion sickness anyway. 95% of the time you dont feel the boat moving. Every once in a while you might feel a little movement. My wife gets motion sickness really easily and she has mostly been fine. She does bring dramamine with us just in case. imo its not a concern for almost anyone. As for info I wish I would know before going: Always get your picture taken by the cruise photographers. I avoided them but regret it now because you never have to pay for pictures unless you want to and the pictures usually turn out pretty great.
I love having a balcony but it does typically cost a decent amount more so I dont usually get one. We are hoping to get a cheap upgrade to a balcony for this upcoming cruise.
We are going to bring walkie talkies on this trip. I dont like paying for the phone plans on the cruise. They are pretty pricey and I dont really want to have my phone on me anyway.

This is just me and my opinion but the more things you get involved in the better. Let loose a bit. Get out of your comfort zone. My parents actually got to be involved in one of the on stage productions once and it was the best thing I ever saw. It was like a newlyweds show and it was my parents 50th anniversary. They had 3 couples. A newlywed couple, a couple that had been together for like 10 years and my parents. The questions were of course designed to draw laughs and boy oh boy did it work. Funniest thing ever. One of my biggest regrets is not catching it on camera. Do the cooking classes. Sing karaoke. Go to the auctions. Participate in the lip synching competitions. Play the game shows. Play bingo. Get into a drink mixing competition by the pool. Dance. Make the most of all the ship has to offer. Every cruise ship has a ton to offer. Most everything is free. Take advantage. You only live once and you never know when you will be willing or able to do these things again. Get to know the other cruisers.

I have met Franklin in real life. He was nice to hang out with at the bar and watch the game. Other people who I know have met babe. They are definitely not the same person.

I am sure there are few posters on here that have alts and multiple alts. Sometimes its mildly fun to wonder or try to figure it out. But at the end of the day I dont really care. As far as trying to figure it out too much we all know the downside of this based on a certain poster trying to call people at work and obsess over it.

Wait what? Who was calling people at work? That’s pretty funny.

@The Thriller, you call everyone, that calls you out in this forum, an alt is becoming ad nauseam. I’m not Franklin or Jazzy. I call you out because you are intellectually dishonest when it comes to almost every topic. You feel safe in this hugbox to post dishonestly, with a couple other posters always agreeing with you. When someone calls you out, you have no depth to actually debate, so you call them an alt, alt-right or an *** clown. It’s sad that you can’t differentiate between an actual troll/alt or someone calling out for your dishonesty.

LOL okay

Switching gears, it is a bit weird to see how much disconnect we have in protests and how they are treated. The Freedom Convoy is a good example of that as I believe they have every right to protest the mandates they see as unfair, but shouldn't be able to do at the expense of others.

Despite all the issues they've caused both economically as well as general disruption to citizens, it certainly feels that if they weren't largely conservative, blue collar and white that they would have been extracted by law enforcement long ago. I think back to how protestors were "ushered" out at Lafayette Park for Trump's photo op as an example of the inverse.

This doesn't mean it always happens - the Portland protests turned into riots are a good example of people overstaying their welcome, but it seems pretty clear to me that we allow certain groups more leverage to 'protest' than others based on race, social status and other traits.

The leverage there is with what they're protesting with. It is a lot easier to move 50 hipsters than it is to move 50 semi trucks with trailers especially when the local towing companies are refusing to cooperate with law enforcement. There are over a thousand trucks. This isn't something local law enforcement is capable of handling. The only options Canada has are to (A) give in, (B) wait the trucks out in hopes they dwindle away to a manageable size, or (C) use the Canadian military against Canadian citizens. So far it appears Canada is going with option (B).

If you’re white and blue collar, this is a protest of patriots.

If you’re a person of color or protesting for people of color, you’re a thug.

Eh, mace and rubber bullets would irritate a truck driver every bit as much as a hipster imo. Maybe more so due to the confined space.

Okay, so you irritate the drivers with mace and rubber bullets. What then? It isn't the drivers that have to be moved. It is the trucks that have air brakes locking up all wheels on the vehicle that are difficult to move and those huge hunks of machinery don't care about mace or rubber bullets.

So you think they will just chill in their trucks and get maced/tazed/shot with rubber bullets over and over again? Im betting they drive out of there. Or they get out of their trucks and leave them. Then you get others who know how to drive a truck to move em. Easy peasy. I doubt they would just leave their trucks though. The trucks are probably important to the drivers. I bet they care about fines and jail too. Use those things against them as well.

Keep in mind that this is a labor action. Without negotiation of any kind, the people of Canada have unilaterally imposed a condition of employment on some equipment operators and those equipment operators have elected to refuse to operate the equipment they are responsible for in a prescribed manner until the people of Canada rescind that imposed condition.

The solution to this labor disagreement you think should be pursued is to take guns and shoot the laborers who have set up barbeques and bouncy castles for kids. Is that correct? Is there any particular outfit you think the government forces who are doing all this shooting should wear? Maybe something black with jackboots and skulls to look extra nice for all the cameras streaming live video to the world?

This kind of labor protest is not common in North America but it happens all the time in Europe. Usually it is farmers who protest pricing or restrictions by parking harvesting equipment and huge tractors on the roads. There have been at least 2 years I know of they even blocked off the Tour de France. I’m sure the video of Canadian goons shooting laborers to break this action will play well with European viewers. It might even land Canadian leaders in The Hague because unlike the United States, I do not believe Canada is immune from Hague prosecutions.

…or Canada could go with option (B) and wait out the truckers hoping they dwindle to a manageable size.
