Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I’m perfectly fine with not trading Rudy. We do need to shake things up if we don’t though. Move Conley for sure and maybe we get a nice offer for Bogey.

Before anyone thinks they are about to dunk on this post:

The league revised official measurements to be a player without shoes which throws all historical context and comparison totally out of wack. Dosonmu and White are 6’ 5” and 6’ 4.75” with shoes, respectively. Michael Jordan is 6’ 6” in shoes and probably closer to 6’ 4.5” without shoes. Hakeem is probably 6’ 9” without shoes.

Because of the change the league has made it requires research on every player to make any apples to apples comparisons. But generally speaking, shave 1.5” to 2” off of every official measurement 10 years ago and earlier.

TLDR; Dosonmu and White are actually big guards.
I think Ayo plays big... White I would say plays much like our "small" scoring guards. I think he is a solid second draft guy... but I like him more as a thrown in than as something the deal is built around. If we got both of these guys I'd want to move Mike and JC in other deals (which I'm fine with).

I don't know how much I truly believe in this kind of roster to contend, but I think it would be very exciting to watch and I'd be very intrigued to see a team around Don+guys on his timeline. If it doesn't work out and Don demands a trade anyways, I still think we are in a strong position with a bunch of twenty somethings available for trade. I think it's important that we get off of Conley/Bogey in any scenario.

Conley to Washington for KCP plus something else seems like the most logical and realistic trade. I would do that swap as is let alone get something with him.

Bogey has good trade value. He’s expiring plus he’s just a good player. I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a great deal for him.

Agreed 100%.

Here’s my Catchall moment: as a prospect, Ayo seems the guard equivalent to Butler as a forward. He would theoretically pair quite nicely with Don AND be young enough to use in the inevitable rebuild.

The Hornets are a team to keep two eyes on. They are going to make a budget motivated mistake this offseason. They are worried about paying Miles Bridges a max or near max... they have some other decision out there... Here is what I am thinking... the either:

- Cheap out on Bridges.
- Sell Rozier or PJ off for more buget type pieces or take lesser players that offer salary flexibility in the future.
- Attach picks to Gordon to move him for less money coming back.

They going to mess this up. I could see them doing Rozier/PJ for Bogey/Royce then maybe they let Martin walk and they have nice flexibility going forward. I could see them doing a sign and trade with Bridges just to get something back and then they extend PJ to a cheaper deal. Maybe they straight salary dump Rozier... for KCP/Ish etc.

I don't think ATL would mind getting off some future salary, so I think adding Bogey for Huerter/Bogdan is a real option. But I tend to agree with you, I think Bogey can get us something.

It's tough for me to gauge what Conley can fetch us. I think I'm probably too harsh because I really think father time is about to hit Conley in a big way, but I can also see how a team like WAS could see him as their starting PG next season. WAS is a logical destination, I'm just not sure if that means we just get KCP and Ish or if we get enough future value to be the sweeter in a Turner/Capela type trade. I also think New York could be a destination. You could probably pry Burks + Reddish/Toppin.

I like these options though...and the more I look at Turner the more I want him. I don't think Capela is very good anymore, but if Turner can stay healthy I do think he's the defensive talent than can make you average on defense even if you have crappy defenders around him. Love the idea of Don playing with a spaced floor with Collins+Turner too. I think that is an ideal offensive setup for him. I think we'd remain elite on that end.

“Kind of the expectation around the league at this point is that Rudy Gobert is going to go to Chicago. That’s what I heard.” - Matt Moore

Gobert for Williams/Ayo/White/Vucevic/18/Future 1st

I wonder if Atlanta entertains a Bogey for Collins swap.

A workable alternative deal for me depends on what you can get for Vuc and what other draft comp they put in. No Williams... okay we want Ayo, another future first unprotected (I assume 19 is already in the deal), and we are dumping Gay on you.

I don’t think that’s enough. I think they have to include Williams unless it’s 18 plus two future firsts and they take salary back like you said.

I think the Kings rumors are interesting... specifically said no #4. I think it would be Barnes and stuff. So is Bogey or Bogey and stuff a good substitute? They probably consider it.

It's not unrealistic IMO. I don't think either party was enthusiastic about the extension Collins signed. It certainly feels like a soft agreement on a future trade. ATL would probably like to get something better than Bogey, but they might be in a position where they have to take the best offer and Bogey would help them now+help them get out of a bad cap situation. If they don't get an Ayton/Gobert deal done I think it makes sense.

Yes, super intriguing. I’m excited to see how all of this plays out.

I think that's reasonable... at least some pick swaps. I think there is some value in these negotiations (if they are real) to say okay... you want to keep Williams... do you want to sub in two additional firsts then? How much do you want to keep him.

Same with Hunter... okay no Hunter then we want a Heurter plus two firsts for Bogey swap. Obviously they can say no but if they are putting limits on the conversation I think you can push limits elsewhere and get equivalent or better value.

YES! There has to be some penalty elsewhere. You can’t just say we’re keeping Williams/Hunter and not adding extra value elsewhere.

I think you just have to push their resolve. It may just get too rich.

Chicago fans seem to think the package should be Williams/Vucevic/White/18 which is pretty reasonable from their side surprisingly. They’d obviously rather not give up Williams.

I think the Bulls should be the team going hardest for Rudy. I think they should have more motivation than Atlanta.
