Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I think Ainge was always going to trade the **** out of Gobert. It's just not like him to invest that much in the center position, especially for one that is offensively limited.

Jazz already have offers on the table. Those offers won't regress. Jazz are just trying to finesse them by adding a 3rd team. I think the process sounds perfectly normal. No team was going to give the Jazz exactly what they want, so the Jazz need to take some initiative.

Jazz likely have other deals for Mike and Bojan that they can merge or alter to make the Gobert deal work.

I think you could move White to a team like Denver for #30 (you would need to take back Green or in a bigger deal for Barton). I think White can be moved for some value... if we didn't have JC and Donovan I would actually take a flier on him.

Vuc is a tough fit almost anywhere. I can't believe what Chicago traded for him... I lol'd then and am loling harder now. Best bet is that a team like Indiana doesn't want to complete suck and would give a mild asset for him.

Yeah, I was about to post that original trade is looking worse and worse. He isn’t that bad though I would bet a team would give up a first plus salary for him.

I think Utah stinks of desperation. I think they ideally want to trade Gobert and make Mitchell as happy as possible. Teams are going to use that to their advantage to low-ball Utah. My guess is that teams who seriously want Gobert will make their real offers against the clock on draft day. They will attempt to force Ryan Smith into saying yes to a mediocre deal under pressure.

There is going to be a lot of movement of trash players by the time the draft is over. Witness the pieces the Mavs just foisted on the Rockets for salary matching purposes. I suspect the Jazz might currently have a player or two that fits that description currently.
 
After reading through this entire chain including all the drama queens butt hurt posts...

My favorite trade partner fo the Jazz is the 76rs. I think there are lots of good combos that would benefit both teams.

I don't see it... but teams do weird things. If I was guessing it'd be like Hield+31 for Vuc maybe? I think we'd just end up keeping him and being horrible on defense... but he is a floor raiser and will help you win a few games.

im viewing vuc as filler pretty much, white could have some value

If you don't like Ivey as a prospect then you flip that pick for value and slide down... it is clear many do like him. He's a pretty damn good prospect. Saw The Athletic anonymous scout thing and they call him the best athlete in the draft and compare his athleticism to Wall and Westbrook. If that comes with a passable jumper... He also played with two traditional bigs and college basketball has terrible spacing issues. Ivey would be a top 5 prospects in most drafts imo.

The NY package of Quickley, Toppin, firsts in 23/25/27/29? plus #11 might be a bit ambitious... but even that is likely to yield a mix of late lotto picks but many years out. Getting #4 plus the 23 kings pick is a pretty solid start. Would I want another pick? Sure... but at that point it gets a little rich don't you think? In the NY trade you are likely taking back some semi-undesirable salary.

If I am ranking that package and the value I would say it goes in this order:

- #4 - Easily flippable for #9, #20 and a future pick - #11, 2023 first, and maybe one more asset - #10, Deni, and a pick. And there is a chance OKC sees a draft where they can strike and goes #12 and like 3-4 future picks. Some drafts they won't be able to move up even if they offer like 6-7 firsts.

- 2023 Kings first... Kangs gonna Kang. Sabonis Fox and Don is fun... they will have the league's worst defense. That team wins 35-40 games if healthy imo. One injury and they are right back to the low 30s.

- Barnes - He can be flipped for a mid first if we want... he could also be extended and we can try and win now.

- Davion - Still a decent prospect... I might rather have Quickley than Davion but they are in a similar tier. I don't think he has more value than he did to start the year... I think if you wanted a pick in the teens a team like Houston would likely do that.

I think you are getting the equivalent of like 2 late lotto picks and 3-4 middle firsts... which is much closer to fair than HORRID to me.

That first part is exactly what I'm talking about. It's so easy to talk yourself into a certain player, I do it all the time myself which is why I'm cautious. I don't think it's necessarily incorrect to evaluate each pick on a case by case basis, but I think we give too much consideration to the guy we think we're getting and not enough consideration to the historical outcomes of each. Ivey may be a top 5 pick in any year, but like I said top 5 pick isn't what we all hope for. It's an instagram vs reality situation.

I don't disagree with your ranking of the order, but I think most people would have Davion second. That's why my initial instinct was to say I'd rather take what the Knicks have to offer. Young player a team just drafted who they love is one of the hardest types of players to acquire, and that's who Davion is. That reputation far exceeds what I think of him. You've talked about how you could just trade the Kings package into the Knicks package, but what if you do it the other direction? I think if these two teams were trading and the Jazz were out of it Davion would carry too much value. I'm not a huge fan of the distant firsts, but whatever amount of picks Davion amounts to in a trade I'd take the picks instead. I like Quickley+Toppin a lot more than Mitchell, and I think the duo would cost lest than Davion in a trade. Ivey, Quickley, Toppin, and whatever is left over is better than what you're getting from the Kings trade imo.
