Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Sexton is basically the B version of Donovan.

It's kind of funny he's being valued lower than one would think given his stats.

It's crazy how much team situation impacts things.

Their 3rd year's are basically identical. One just got to play with Rudy and one didnt.
And Sexton plays hard. I think he could learn some of the winning habits. Nba teams acting like Sexton was the only thing holding Cavs back when it was the addition of Mobley and Allen plus Harland took a big leap and was healthy.

Not sure what the number would be but somewhere in 15-20M seems reasonable and maybe you snag a team option or something… sign and trade for JC? Bogey? I’d like it more than an Ayton trade or something like that.

See Miami is offering peanuts for Donovan, but I would guess Ainge might trade him for Bam Adebayo. Then the Jazz could pick up Sexton and we could be better off. The catch is Miami trading Bam is as likely as the Jazz trading Donovan. Mutually it's not going to happen.

I do not think Ainge wiill trade Donovan unless the offer is too good. We got incredible offer, let's do it, if not, make some smart move and make a run. I would like to see one last season with Don, Mike at 100% motivation and maybe Ayton. We may be the surprise of the year. But im dreaming as he will probably not happen.

Ainge and Zanik have already said they will move Don for the right package. Think that's what they are looking for. As getting KD remains unreasonable for most teams, they will turn to Don. Just have to be patient.

The Durant situation reminds me of when Denver was talking about trading Carmelo and the Knicks and Nets were in a kind of bidding war for him. Once the Knicks won the war, we swooped in on the Nets offer with Deron and that trade happened.

I could see a bidding war for Durant continue for a while and eventually someone wins, then we jump in with Donovan and get a Durant-level package. At least that’s what I’m hoping for if indeed we are rebuilding without Donovan for whatever reason and/or Donovan has expressed discontent with the Jazz.

FWIW, I love Donovan and I think he’s been great for us and I really hope DWade is more involved than we know in helping him navigate the celebrity portion of his life and his player development.

The metrics don’t back that up at all.

So, who are the third stars in the league that the first two stars play better with? Same statistics, please.

I really don't understand holding onto Donovan for four reasons:

1) Any core we could build around Donovan + Mike + whoever else we could reasonably get our hands on at this point is a fringe playoff team at best, with a best-case scenario of avoiding a play-in. Zero percent chance of contention.
2) Arguably our best asset in a rebuild is our 2023 pick. Farting around and earning the 8 seed does not help that pick.
3) People (Locke) say a tank "makes no sense" because we don't have our 2024 pick. But we have plenty of assets to get back into the first round of 2024, particularly if we move Don.
4) Reports are that "nearly every team" has called on Mitchell. I'm sure some are looking for a fire sale, but many of them are not. If that's the case there's a near certainty Ainge could negotiate a strong return for Mitchell via trade.

I’d want part of the physical if we got Sexton to have him stand back to back with Don and Mike.

Language in the deal should be that if, as measured with a ruler or #2 pencil and eyeballing it, Sexton is shorter than either the deal is “kilt”.

This kind of **** needs to happen more often in the NBA.
