Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

No he did the opposite. He questioned what the FO plans were doing after they made the trades. That doesn’t sound like someone who requested a trade. Sounds like someone questioning of where management is taking the team he plays for.

“According to Windhorst, Mitchell went to the front office and asked them what their plan was following the O’Neal and Gobert trades”
He's publicly been silent for a while... the team has been making a lot of moves. I don't think he's asked out... but he let us know his preference was to be elsewhere. Like the nice guys version of D-Will saying he won't re-sign. No welcome coach Hardy... no thank you Quin... no welcome the new guys.

If he went to them to see what the plan was maybe it was to tell them if they are rebuilding he'd rather not be there. It doesn't signal a whole lot to me.

I don't think he has asked to be traded. I think he has communicated honestly what his plans are long term... I think we decided it is best to move him now rather than wait. I think we were obviously already weighing that.

I actually think Don deserves a ton of praise. He may be doing it in part to protect his brand or get what he wants now... but he is playing nice and CAA has been quiet. It helps us make that move and is good for everyone except the Knicks who may lose some additional draft equity.

About to be two months of this.
Unless the Heat stuff picks up it will be a long process. I think the KD deal would have to happen first... and I think the KD deal may not end up happening. Then some reports of Heat turning full attention to Donovan...

I think we make a non-don trade before the Donovan trade.

I kind of want Mitchell to be on the Jazz for the start of training camp just to see how the Jazz/Mitchell would handle any line of questioning.

Don’t the Heat have some incentive to play along with a rumor that they’re gonna empty the cupboard to get Mitchell (5 firsts, Herro, swaps, etc). This would:

-likely get the Knicks to cut the bull ****, who the Heat have a stake in keeping bad.
-potentially get the Nets to engage more earnestly about KD

Right?

Maybe number 2 but I think they want Phoenix to come to the table not Miami.

I don't think Miami cares much about NY and Riley and Ainge don't play nice. I don't think you need their cooperation. Just let it leak out that you really like Herro and feel like you will be able to accumulate a lot of picks in other deals but no one of Herro's caliber is out there with picks.

I would much rather have this done now... but if we rolled into the season we will be bad enough to still tank (once we unload Bev/Bogey/etc.). Knicks might start slow or be just fine... but us holding Donovan means their record next year is likely lower than if they had Donovan now and were practicing with him etc. It could be a stealth way to make sure they end up in the lotto.

Scroll down to the bottom.

The three players listed on the front page to advertise the pre-orders for the new jerseys: Leandro Balmero, Walker Kessler, and Malik Beasley.

Who on Earth is pre-ordering those ugly *** jerseys for those players? Friends and family?
That is hilarious and telling. They should make some that say "Timberwolves 2027 1st Round Pick" with a #1. Might out perform those ones.

Take a look at this boring *** garbage shoe. This is the DON Issue 4. This is going to hit outlet malls immediately after release if Donovan Mitchell is in Utah.

If he's in NYK Adidas might actually make some money.

Pretty obvious who the biggest offenders are in the constant "Don to NYK" rumors.
He made these so he wouldn't draw attention to himself even though he plans to ask to be traded but he wants to be traded but everybody knows but nobody is sure that it's sure thing.

I call it the Lopo Special.
Y'all complain that I say the same things over and over.

Then you try to say I spin things over and over.

Which one is it? Try to have some integrity when answering please. If it's that you spin it for your narrative, then it's okay to tell the truth. I'm not mad either way.

Lopo again presents two things that are happening at the same time then tries to make us choose only one.

If he didn't want out wouldn't he be out here calling these reports BS and stuff... wouldn't he have said some things to refute it.

I think the rumors were there all along but it hit a critical point with the unnerved report. Think that carefully crafted article that came out 3 minutes after the announcement generated some conversation between us and CAA to get them to STFU and play nice or it gets ugly. If we found CAA/Knicks tampering there could be hefty fines and penalties.

Rebuilding was always a possibility but I think Ainge went into the offseason with full flexibility and then found a huge deal he liked that skewed us towards rebuilding.
None of the reports were from authenticated sources. They were all veiled threats of "one day Don will want to go to a larger market." Believe it or not, stars can't address every rumor. And the rumors that flooded in were so vague that it wasn't worth addressing.

Can't address every rumor. I mean hell, he told a reporter that he plans on coming back. He got the same question over and over and he finally just said "I want to process this loss" and everybody acted like he didn't already say he was planning on coming back.
