2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Here is a question... Portland lands the second pick... they don't want to trade Dame and offer #2 straight up for Lauri. Ignore trade rules on salary and assume something neutral could be done.

Not trying to trade Lauri and have no idea what I'd pick... and I really like Scoot. Just curious what others would do.
i'd take miller if i had the #2 overall pick. i'll let somebody else take on the risk that is a short guard who can't shoot. not impossible to pan out, could improve his shooting, could be the the rare great defender at 6'2 and under, but the risk isn't worth it that early in the draft. didn't play well the second half of the season in the g league when he played, also missed a lot of games, either because he didn't want to or due to injury -- red flags either way. dude has a lot of upside with his athleticism, but a lot of strikes against him - too many reasons he could either straight bust or be an average player in the league. i don't take that at 2 when i have a 6'9" elite shooting/scoring prospect with upside as a playmaker/passer at that size.

Had a couple injuries but nothing concerning… reports are he’s a tremendous worker. Shut it down late in the year once they were eliminated from the playoffs… understandable given his draft status and risk/reward. Some of his numbers aren’t amazing but 18-19 YO going against grown men with an nba three point line. Further along as a shooter than the twins and younger. I’m very much still a believer but understand where you are coming from.

If Scoot is 6'2 he's the biggest looking 6'2 I've ever seen.
I’m wondering if that is barefoot. 6-4ish maybe? with 6-9 wingspan and nuclear athleticism… size isn’t really on the list of concerns for me. It’s shooting really and that’s about it.

I would say probably 6'3.5 with shoes, but the wingspan is nice and he's has an incredible basketball body w/ leanness and muscle.

3 point shooting is obviously a concern for Scoot, but I also expected him to be more prolific at the rim. All the talk about him being a crazy work ethic guy who is optimizing his game for the NBA is great, but the other side of the coin is that if he's putting in all that work it hasn't amounted to much.....yet anyways.

I still like Scoot a lot. After the games against Wemby I thought he was a #1 level prospect for sure. Don't think I have him rated as highly anymore. Still a top 3/5 prospect in normal drafts, but I do not think there are two #1 guys in this years draft and I could see arguments for Miller or even Amen over Scoot. He's a better prospect than Ivey last year.
